Whisky Reviews for Balblair 21-year-old

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.09 points

  1. LukasJakubDrabek did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    Ralfy's review 657: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOCSSGo80mY (92/100).

"What a fascinating whisky. So transformed from the unpromising and bewildering experience when I first open the bottle. This whisky is not just changed a bit over time, it's changed enormously over time. It is turned from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan."

"If I was assessing this on first taste on opening the bottle I would have probably rated it about 77 out of a 100."

  2. Seb.Whisky scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

After plunging into the glass we are in sync with what is expected of a Balblair, that is to say the fruit while simplicity. But I must say that the mouth and the finish by this bitter side, contrast with the original style and it is not made to displease me. The reduction, even if it is a little noticed, does not affect the whole. www.passionduwhisky.com
    • Nose
Nose: Fruity, sweet and creamy. It starts a little like a Balblair. The heat of the apricot, the passivity of the mango. Peach in syrup. There is honey, but it is radically fruity, banana. A good comrade for the evenings of fullness. There is something between confectionery and herbal syrup.
    • Taste
Palate: This whisky is a treat for the taste buds. Almonds and honey, fruits ripened in the sun of course, always the same apricots, peaches. Small, slightly bitter oranges. Banana is back. The whole is flexible and greedy.
    • Finish
Finale: Bitter orange, cinchona. Decoction with plants. It's an interesting transition.

  3. jazzpianofingers scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

N: Such is the sherry influence, this Initially smells like the previous G&M Balblair WB, but soon we are in to more Balblair/Highland territory as the fruits on peaches & pears unravel.
T: Thats the job! Develops on dark putty-malt, oak & cereals, working together in tandem.
F: Lots of porridge, Shreddies and putty at the finish.
C: I like this one more than the previous. Blog
