    • Nose
Vanilla. Stable. Caramel Ben Nevis with a certain minerality. Frank smoke. An interesting mix of fresh and cooked fruits. Almost wise for a young Ledaig. (The bottle has been open for a while now.)
    • Taste
Nice attack, but not aggressive. Spices. This dirty look that we love at Ledaig is there but I had better. Oily texture. A nice sweetness on the honey. Sherry does not show up explicitly. He is older than his age.
    • Finish
Cinnamon. Long and intense, beautiful vivacity, very clean (a height for a Ledaig!)

      Nose 3/5
      Mouth & Finale 4/5

      Whisky n ° 1822

N- Oh, just love the nose melting aromas that make u moan with pleasures (oops~). The hefty strength comes with rich coconut, fish oil, seaweed, camphor and sterno gel.  Diesel and hot tar, tea smokes white oak with whiff of white flower, addictive. P- Direct, spicy, salty, bitter gourd, vegetal peat with nice smoked citrus lemon peel, brilliant and full throttle.

F- Ultra long, kumquat, acidic dry and spicy, everything are up on your palate with no if or but.  A classic peated isle dram.

A Ledaig certainly not a crazy complexity but with a beautiful explosiveness and not suffering from his youth. The 55 euros "only" are a real plus also in a context where prices are blazing regularly
    • Nose
We are clearly on the peat, normal will tell you at Ledaig. This peat is more mineral, on iron, and lemony than usual. The farmer Ledaig side is there but much less pronounced. After aeration, we can smell the cooked fruits, candied citrus fruits and honey. At times the cold tobacco and the ashes come then leave again.
    • Taste
Very nice power, the 60.9% are there but not in excess. We are on a greasy and herbaceous peat. There are also spices, peppermint and what I do not know what sweet / salty. There is a slight austerity but not so unpleasant as that. Sherry's barrel is clearly unidentifiable.
    • Finish
Long on peat, cold tobacco and ash mainly.

Tasted after Ledaig 2004 artist 5 SV for LMDW.
The sequence is really not happy.

On the nose, mineral, a dirty side on peat and plastic but also on the medicinal / vegetable side (suze, gentian). It's been a little chick after the previous one and it's not really my cam.

In the mouth I find more ledaig markers but which are a little shy. It is clearly above the nose and so much the better. Mineral and straight mouth before leaving on a herbaceous peat, herbarium of the Alps.
long finish on a slightly herbaceous / bitter sweet peat in line with the mouth. not convinced for once

Pretty strong, due to it's high strength. Hot cream, hot butter, with that Ledaig's pungent smoke. Fair amount of brininess as well. Some mild sweetness of the nose, more like condensed milk kind of sweetness, sticky and sharp.
    • Taste
      84 84
Very sweet arrival, condensed milk like the nose suggest, too sweet to my liking. Hot and creamy as well, all comes together with the ashy smokiness. Tar and charcoal.
    • Finish
      86 86
Slightly bitter, with nuttiness, smokiness, sweetness is still there. Very long.

    Mineral smokiness, easy to drink

N: thank god, there’s some funk! Rubber bands, lemon zest, gravel, a little dill even
T: big, huge, rich and buttery sherry. Cherries and vanilla ice cream, Some sulfur
F: medicinal, iodine and band aids. Vanilla. We are in laphroaig territory. Long and rewarding finish, although the competition was weak in this field.

As with other younger Ledaigs I have some real issues with the nose. At first glance it's quite ok with loads of vegetal peat, smoke and iodine. When I'm really sticking my nose to this whisky however, I get overwhelmed with poor quality grappa, boiled cabbage and rotting swamp gasses.
There's also a little lemonzest in the background.

It picks up considerably in taste with again the vegetal peat, campfire smoke, ash and charcoal. There's also some pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg like spices in the development.

Finish is very long with a touch of cinnamon and long lasting ash and charred oak qualities.

Overall this whisky is a bit off balance, actually a bit too much for me...
