Whisky Reviews for Pommerscher Greif 2011

  1. Archer scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

A nice single cask, which captivates with its resinous-spicy basic character and the taste of coniferous forest on the tongue.
    • Nose
-without water- The alcohol stings something in the nose. Nevertheless, a resinous and spicy basic note can be sniffed. Fruity or floral notes have a hard time getting to the surface through alcohol. -with water- diluted with water makes the malt. The earthy-spicy basic note becomes softer and now resembles a dense fir forest after a rainstorm. Sun-exposed cracked leather and flavored pipe tobacco. Clearly peppery, with thyme, rosemary and marjoram.
    • Taste
On the tongue, it also begins with fir or pine needles. Milk chocolate is also fast. The spices from the nose are not found on the tongue, but there are cinnamon and anise. From the milk chocolate with time nougat and later dark red dark chocolate. The malt has a creamy and creamy texture, with toffee and malt. The sherry barrel is not noticeable with a particularly pronounced sweet taste, but should provide for the taste of red grapes and berries.
    • Finish
Long finish. Chocolate, creamy, fine spicy with cinnamon and and anise.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The "normal" gripping was not so mine, but this now jumps fully into the drawer "crazy and interesting (to crazy)" (reminds me in part of the Icelandic Floki) - I like. PLV - no idea, was a present.
    • Nose
directly from the sample bottle (does not say much, but is often funny): Mocha, Maggi and a touch of fresh mushrooms ... not bad ;-)
in the glass: I do not find him sprittig, first a short bread / sourdough note (hurray, German whisky!), then intense chocolate coffee and so slowly comes the Maggi note ... water tickles the right for me the alcohol out, then he has to rest a little bit again, then comes the forest, resin, tree needles, moss, mushrooms, soil ... has something
    • Taste
with the sharpness you have to play something - I have the impression that he is stronger (for oily) in gaanz small gulps better - on the tongue only a lot of cocoa (about the Trinkkaopulver-mouthfeel, just a bit bitter), then a round chewing on the pine branch and one edge of rye black bread, coffee, a drop of camillan
    • Finish
long, coffee cream chocolate, then resin, kamillan
