  1. Lorion scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Excellent whisky, which gets a small point deduction because of the glue. So "only" 89.
    • Nose
So much glue, but at the same time so much fruit. Blind tasted I would be totally confused now. You have to get used to the adhesive, which is initially dominant. If you do that, you will be rewarded with a fruit compote. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, cherries. With chocolate and an aromatic oak. Water : Loosens everything and almost manages to tame the adhesive.
    • Taste
Unbelievably full and undiluted also a bit strong. Extremely fruity, slightly sweet, slightly astringent. Chocolate and oak come quickly and dominate the Nachschmecken, the fruit can not be displaced. Water : Now it is really pleasant. Still very intense and full, but not a bit spicy. Great.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity with oak.

    • Nose
Wow, wow, wow, even after five previous drams, this dark, beautiful - not at all clumsy - sweetness totally knocks you down, reminds you of Old Perth 14 from the smell. You only feel the 60% in the background, almost perfect for a NAS.
    • Taste
Much more spicy, less sweet, very present and broad. Water is really good for him, even rounder, even more sweet.
    • Finish
      Awesome glue

Strong port up front, with pleasant woody notes. Fruit compote as it opens, with blackberries to the fore. Really lovely, intense fruit, raspberries now.

With water: earthy notes, but also lighter, creamy sweetness - sugar added to the compote? Not complex, but genuinely beautiful.
    • Taste

Powerful and fruity, almost red wine-like. Deep and luscious, hints of plum.

With water: sweeter and creamier, like blackberry crumble with double cream. Blackcurrants take the lead later.
    • Finish

      Long, with neat Ribena.

The nose is awesome. Extremely fruity and sweet. The false note only slightly spoils the overall impression. The alcohol is again a bit intrusive to the end. The whisky is definitely worth a recommendation.
    • Nose
Extremely fruity with blackberry jam, a strong dash of cinnamon, cherries, chocolate and as a slight false note something that reminds me first of benzine and later a dental laboratory.
    • Taste
Sweet and fruity at the beginning. Then chocolate and very demanding alcohol.
    • Finish
Medium long finish with slight bitterness, cherries and a noticeable alcohol burning

Nose: cocktail cherries ... yes ... these things that do not taste at all, but have always smelled quite pleasant. Damn sweet and fruity, he comes to me in the first moment. Gradually, a compote made of dark fruity / sour berries spreads in the glass. I still smell coconut and a hint of vanilla. The alcohol is despite the 59.4% vol. almost imperceptible. An excellent nose!

After some oxidation time, a pleasant wood and leather note joins the forest berry compote. Oxygen and a little rest do it very well! The nose is getting better!

Taste: For a brief moment you might think to have pure port in your mouth. Damn fruity - sweet and too equal with a strong onset, but again does not betray the alcohol. Quickly, a tingling mouthfeel and a pleasant fruity / tart acid pushes into the foreground. Pleasantly warming in the finish and a very pleasing and quick transition to wood, leather and coffee notes can be heard. Very pleasant and exactly my case.

Conclusion: I would have to buy a bottle from it. A great drop. Those looking for balance are out of place here, but if you are looking for a fruit bomb with a decent amount of oak as a counterpart, you will find it here.

Pleasant malt, only the glue disturbs something
    • Nose
Enjoyable. Dark fruits, such as cherries and raisins. With nice chocolates, coffee and toffee notes. Above all lies an adhesive note.
    • Taste
The impressions gained from the nose come again. The raisins are almost reminiscent of rumrosines. Chocolate and toffe are just as present as the adhesive note. These are now nuts and oak.
    • Finish
Very beautiful. He stays long and strong.

  7. Mister_FF scored this whisky 93 points Expert Junior

This whisky is really awesome, not for beginners and certainly not a starter whisky, polarizing, probably love it or hate it, exciting, definitely sets itself apart from the mass of other whisky, even optically because of the dark color. For me a very harmonious top whisky.
    • Nose
First a clear glue note, as you know from some Bourbons. After this is gone, sweet pickled fruits. A great fragrance that literally stands in the room. In a blind tasting I would have typed directly on a bourbon.
    • Taste
First sip, again very similar to Bourbon. I was totally surprised, because I did not expect it. From the second / third sip, almost after the palate has been made supple, this kavalan plays out his full class. Now comes the port board, massive, full-bodied, red fruits, supple, fine, noble, despite the high vol.% Neither sprightly nor unpleasantly hot. Second glass poured, oh man .... that is getting better. Addictive ...
    • Finish
Grandiose finish. Powerful and substantial. You can tell, here you have it with a really fat caliber, that you do not have every day in the glass. Class.

  8. Numwierum scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

I really like Port Whisky's, but this is more port wine in its purest form. Here Port is fighting alcohol, very unbalanced ... but I do not want to talk him bad. I do not feel as one-dimensional, you can always discover new flavors in it ...

That's really something over it and if I say that means something. No question he tastes good as a whole for me personally (I also like to drink a port), but is that still well done? Have another sip without analyzing and great thought about it and he'll get away better.
    • Nose
ok, it does not have much to do with whisky anymore, port wine notes, anything gummy, sweet and red fruits, with time it becomes clear that you have a whisky in the glass, it gets spicier, wood notes, raspberry syrup, that's quite extraordinary, he definitely needs time and he gets it now. Still a bit overloaded, now also nuts, distinct spiciness, but still very sweet and the fruity Portnote dominated, and again and again a touch of gum
    • Taste
intense, emotionally dry, nutty, sulfur, sweet, bittersweet, fruity, light acid, again this gummy, the alcohol does not stand out negatively
    • Finish
when the sulfur has cleared it becomes more restrained, raspberry, sweet, nutty, stays in the mouth for a long time
