Whisky Reviews for Benrinnes 2006 C&S

- A powerful dram with a lot of alcohol heat. I've let this one rest for some 15 minutes and that drastically improved my experience. On the nose a fairly basic ex-bourbon profile with fresh fruits like apple, pear and mango. Further on creamy malt, pastry, caramel, vanilla, honey and wood glue. It has an edge of Benrinnes meatiness to it, but it's far in the back.
It follows the nose in the mouth, but with a spicy twist to it. Strong notes of salt, pepper and zoethout are the extra's. It gets bitter and astringent over time, not really enjoyable for me.
On the finish it becomes progressively dry, with sweet malty notes. Lingers for some time and together with the nose pretty okay. Clearly a Benrinnes bottled before its prime. Too young and brash.
Based on a sample.
- Strong, powerful and particular sweet whisky, alcohol pretty prominent.
Fruity and sweet, apples, citrus, caramel and vanilla, pretty some alcohol. Nuts as well, almond.
Strong, pepper, sweet, licorice and sweet drop. Vanilla, some milkchocolate and caramel, full taste. It gets fruitier along the way.
Still pretty strong, pepper, sweet drop and vanilla, some fruits, peach and overripe fruits. Pretty long.
