Immediately the thick, ripe, juicy sherry sweetness crawls out of the glass. Overripe, dark berries. Partially sweet. Reminiscent of PX sherry. Moist, aromatic tobacco. A great leather note and as contrast sour cherries. Blueberries and has something of warm mint tea. With more time in the glass, the leather becomes stronger and also a bit bitter. Clove spice and tangerines are still coming. The alcohol stays very cool and cools the nose slightly.
Oily, mild-sweet onset. Warmer chocolate pudding. Plum and a delicious portion of oak. The pudding becomes cocoa. Becomes a bit nutty-bitter. The dark, ripe berries come after and bring the leather and the tobacco. The alcohol pushes later and brings some sharpness into play. But not much! The spiced tangerines I find in the taste again. Very cool part!
Long with mature sweetness. Very oily. Cold espresso and harsh herbs come after.
- Given its age, it's really excellent. A young powerhorse from what must have been a super reactive cask.
Obvious sherry notes, but it's not very fruity, rather on caramel, fudge, vanilla, milk chocolate, dough, salty sticks and a subtle influence of cherries and dates.
Very rich. Milk chocolate, salty caramel, bread, fudge, cherries, prunes, oranges and strawberries. So thick that you could almost cut it.
Quite long, the fruitiness is aparrent, it would be really great without this slight burning of alcohol.

- This is what one expects from a sherry cask matured whisky at cask
strength selected by The Whisky Chamber. Powerful, rich, nicely sherried
and multi-layered. Well-balanced with sherry, creamy and sticky dark
fruit and oaky tannins. Of course the alcohol is always present here,
but very well integrated leaving a pleasant warmth. Compared to last
years' 9 yo bottling from the same new make batch, this expression is a
bit more dominated by the wood. A savory and very enjoyable dram,
though, which I prefer neat.

The sherry is immediately present on the nose, accompanied by dark
cherries, plums, dates and raisins. Sweet and rich with Demerara sugar
and dark chocolate. Some mouldy notes of damp wood and a touch of
sulphur which vanish with time. Behind that, spicy notes of oak,
cinnamon and cloves linger with well-integrated alcohol in the back.
Sweet, intense and powerful on the palate. Rum soaked cherries, raisins
and dark chocolate, followed by spiced oak, pepper and cinnamon. Hints
of sulphur and cloves. Slightly bitter notes of orange peel and oak
linger with a touch of toasted bread and walnuts towards the finish.
Significantly warm and nicely mouthcoating!
The finish is long, warm, creamy and sweet with sticky plums, raisins
and brown sugar. Bitter notes of chocolate, espresso and oak nicely
linger with green walnuts on the tail.
WITH WATER: Lively and
vibrant on the nose with a splash of water. The whisky becomes spicier
with oak and pepper, while the fruity flavours still dominate. Sticky
sweetness of plum jam, raisins and dark chocolate on the palate
accompanied by lots of dry oak. The finish is long, warm and sticky
sweet with cherries and plums. Becomes fairly dry with oak and peppery
on the tail.
