  1. Jackson05 scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

N: Golden raisins, sticky toffee pudding, maple syrup, dry earthiness.

P: Thinner than the nose suggested, dark chocolate, raspberry compote, cherry cola, sour

F: Drying, cinnamon, nutmeg, dark fruits, dark chocolate

A clean and wood driven sherry bomb. It’s good, but one dimensional and a little sweet. Not very memorable

Nice sherried whisky. Not a bomb, but more subtle and quiet. Very pleasant.

Milkchocolate, nuts. Also fruity, red fruits, prunes, raisins, some leather. Typical sherry notes. Coffee now.
    • Taste

A little peppery, chocolate, peach, honey, prunes. Pretty full body.
    • Finish
      87 87
A little more pungent and warming now, red fruits, chocolate, honey. Pretty long

This tomato has a very own touch. Nutty chocolaty, for the first time something like beeswax. Something completely different.
    • Nose
Strong sherry, dark fruits, menthol. Fresh batter, also some vanilla. Ripe and stormy. With a lot of nuts & herbs.
    • Taste
The 21 year old comes full and oily in the mouth. Here the oak note is heavier, the sherry darker like the fruits. Acts older, set as the 25-year-old Tomatin from 1988. In the baking flavors shows very nicely the distillery character.
    • Finish
In the finish, the oak notes with dark chocolate are also more present.

If you like dark chocolate covered espresso beans you may want to try this as an alternative.
    • Nose
Malty, oily and nutty, mon cheri, cognac, sweet, beeswax, sherry
    • Taste
Chocolate, coffee (chocolate espresso beans if you know these), honey, sweet sherry
    • Finish
Sweet, some wood, little spice, dark chocolate, sherry, medium-long

I tasted at the Whisky Festival 2017. Pleasant.
    • Nose
Nice influence of sherry barrels right from the first moment. But it is not a heavy style, rather sharp, varnish, shimmering and fresh scent, where you can find spices, mead, raisins and milk chocolate with hazelnuts. (87 b)
    • Taste
Extremely gentle and yet distinctive, smoothly creamy and graceful. A lot of sherry, but again in a lighter style. Dry to taste, toast, toast. (87 b)

  8. WhiskyLovingPianist scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    Oloroso finish
N: Oloroso cream, bubblegum=butterscotch, [Wrigley’s] Lockets and honey flapjack.
T: Honeycomb, butterscotch, marzipan, sweet putty paste,….. A chatty, easy reader.
F: Theres a delayed reaction,…. before the oloroso flows.
C: Thank goodness the oloroso holds back a while. Sweet nose, sweet spot.

    Scores a B

Watering it down to 46 percent seems to be a good choice in this case, because it is a very powerful whisky still. The balance is good, and it is rich in flavour too. I'd say this is a very successful finish.
    • Nose
The oloroso sherry is very noticeable from the get-go, but not too dominant. Sultanas, cherry candy cane, nuts and faint tobacco. But there's also vanilla and a distinct layer of dried grass. A hint of cardboard. Fresher fruits towards the end, as well as meringue. A very dynamic nose.
    • Taste
Sweet and juicy, with oranges, red grapes and cherry syrup. There's a touch of oaky bitterness, as well as some mild spices, like cracked black pepper and cloves.
    • Finish
The spices linger on, with some sherry fruitiness too. Fairly long.
