Citrus, apple, pear, peach, white pepper, tropical notes, orange, marzipan, quite nice

  2. Dre73 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Very solid and good whisky, a lot of fruitiness, more citrus in the nose, much more peach in the taste.

Very fruity, citrus, lemon. Floral notes, ripe fruits, apples. Pretty full scent, without any stinging alcohol.
    • Taste
      88 88
More sweetness now, white chocolate, creamy, some alcohol pickering. A lot of peach now as well, some sour touch, citrus.
    • Finish

More smooth now, a lot of peach, some honey, pretty long finish. A bit drying, citrus.

A nice whisky that I would pour a second time. Drinks quite easily, despite the pepper. I'd put it in the early evening.

At first I thought a grain but after a few minutes the glue smell was gone. What remains is a nose with vanilla, some nuts, a banana and some tropical fruit, mango or something. A nice nose ...
There is hardly any alcohol on the nose.

He rolls into your mouth very full. Fruity, spicy, but also a spicy pepper at the end.
    • Finish

Unfortunately, the rich, full flavor has left quickly. I was hoping for a slightly longer finish.

  5. Hupsende Hippie scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Nice, but it is a bit too sharp and spicy for me. I prefer and fuller.
    • Nose
Fruit salad with tangerines, apples, apricots, pineapple, grapes and melon with a hint of citrus! And maybe some honey.
    • Taste
I recognize a lot of fruit from the nose. Especially orange (with a nice bitterness), apple, and unripe pineapple. Unfortunately, this is somewhat dominated by spices such as black pepper, nutmeg and licorice.
    • Finish
Could be worse. Slightly dry and fruity, not bitter, but not very long.

Just a fruity juice! Lots of canned fruit and also some peach. Also in the background some bourbon influences in the sense of caramel and ice cream. After a while air and hand heat, more butterbabar bars emerge.

Oehw, this feels a bit young. Sharp in the alcohol, marzipan, very specific: if you are pollinating willows, you will also get this taste in your mouth from the branches. Furthermore, this is especially sharp, some pepper in the background. I hope this will improve with water. With water: It quickly drowns .... 1ml water on 25ml whisky and dr little remains. Flat whisky with a little sweetness, but still a sharp edge.
    • Finish

Short length. A little sour, a little sweet, a little bit of caramel and a brown candy sugar. Little bitterness in the background. Leaves little impression.

Dutch whisky forum blind tasting #11 - sample 5

My conclusion after tasting this: light, delicate and very appealing to me. By far my favorite sample of this years line-up so far. Aged in an ex-bourbon barrel for at least 15 years, but probably closer to 20, 48%, quite a lowlandish profile.
It could be a Littlemill... hmm, that might be a too costly sample, so maybe it's an Irish whisky (Midleton or Cooley)?

So it turned out to be a Benrinnes: maturation, age and abv were pretty good guesses, with the distillery I was way off (as usual).
    • Nose
      90 90
Nose: light, floral (lavender), syrupy sweet, lots of vanilla, pear, honeydew melon, a grainy cookie note, canned tangerine parts, faint lemon, almonds, mint, icing sugar, subtle cinnamon and a slightly dusty wood note.
    • Taste
      90 90
Taste: oily with a syrupy sweetness to it, pears, peardrops, sweet citrus, vanilla, subtle pepper notes and some mild herbal bitterness.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium length: vanilla, a continuing juiciness of pear, subtle citrus and canned fruits, also a kind of green bitterness ending with a slightly peppery and drying wood note.

  11. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    HWF VBT # 11 Sample 5
N: Apple, waxy, vanilla, almond paste, pastry and some honey. Like walking on a fair... cotton candy and glazed apple.
T: Some banana, spices - white pepper, grassy, again waxy and fruity - white grapes.
F: Waxy, vanilla, white grapes and pepper.
Gok... 15 jaar oud, 55% abv en denk aan Clynelish/Glentauchers.
    Prima whisky 87/100

A very good, sweet, sweetly fruity summer whisky! I like it very much. Very good price / quality ratio!
