Tasting notes from an online tasting with 16 participants
what a wonderful, exotic fruit nose paired with vanilla tones
a dream nose reminiscent of old times
    smells of citrus fruits
dark cherry, raspberry, some cardamom and clove
    Brazil nut
Bell pepper in the nose and cherry in the mouth
    anise
with a dwell time of up to 10 seconds in the mouth, beautiful spicy notes dance together,
I can't find the nose in the taste
Is everything right with the many elements. But I like it more straightforward
    Taste raisins in Christmas cake
I find it very full-bodied and just a little bit of banana has appeared

Needs some time and air but turns out very pleasing.

  4. Totoro scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

In parts, this has the same foundation as Monkey Shoulder (Glenfiddich, Balvenie & Kininvie) and it also displays a similarly tart and acidic aspect at first.
This also has quite some power; I imagine it's why they chose to bottle this at a lower ABV.
After a while the other (and older) components kick in, as does the sherry influence. I detect a generous portion of Ben Nevis, whiff of peat included, and some nice oak tannins towards the death, which manage to round things off. Apparently there's some really old (30+) Macallan in here, but it has to vie for attention with the younger components.
Perhaps a slightly incongruous vatting, but I found myself gravitating towards it more often than expected, especially for an apéritif. A good spring/summer whisky with plenty of depth.
