    • Nose
      First of all, I notice the very well-integrated alcohol (57.1%), as in the past I have often seen significant cooling or stinging in (very) young ex-bourbon ripening in cask strength (from 55% to just over 60% alcohol content) perceived in the nose. The Fettercairn is very pleasant in the nose, fresh fruits with tropical hints stand out hesitantly from my glass. I let the malt breathe well for 20 minutes. My patience pays off: Fresh vanilla pods, green apples, pears, pineapple, coconuts and delicate hints of passion fruit and mangoes dominate the sweet and fruity part. In the background I register freshly sawn wood and a subtle spiciness.
    • Taste
      The texture is pleasantly oily and the Fettercairn starts very powerful: The strong alcohol pushes neat, a beautiful symbiosis of sweet fruits and oak floods the palate. On the tongue tip sets in a noticeable tingling. Vanilla pods, Werther's Original and a little bit of menthol are immediately present and harmonize very well with the light fruits: apples, passion fruits, mangos, pineapples, coconuts and tangerines I perceive. A few drops of water curb the powerful power of the malts and intensify the fruity notes. The texture becomes silky soft. The spicy oak notes already leave a slight bitterness on the palate.
    • Finish
      Medium to long, fruity-spicy and warm. Plenty of caramel sweets, vanilla and the bright fruits with tropical hints gradually fade. A hint of dark chocolate and spicy oak notes let the fatcairn fade away. On the palate now remains a noticeable bitterness.

    Nose: fresh bright fruits (green apples, unripe plums), beautiful bourbon vanilla, slightly mineral and fresh oak, a slightly exotic hint of "multivitamin juice", the alcohol is very well integrated in the nose. After the first sip, a note of caramel candy is added
    Taste: Here you can see the barrel starch, a powerful blend of mango and spicy oak. A little too intense and harsh compared to the beautiful nose and the great finish. The finish then really nice creamy with the taste of caramel, pineapple juice and bitter oak. The finish remains very long and makes with his sweet desire for more.
    For 9 years is a very intense and rich malt. Not a master of complexity but a very tasty Bourbon Cask board for a fair price.
