  1. dramspotter scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

admittedly tried while quite cold, it isn't bad but doesn't hit any great marks. However, it does suggest a great age but one gets the feeling this should've been bottled earlier
    • Nose
dry popcorn, not too buttery sweet
    • Taste
pretty dry but a nice popcorn note; the alcohol is a little lacking but not too watery so not a problem
    • Finish
short->medium, it drops off quite rapidly

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Brown sugar, fresh red berries and a dollop of thick honey.

Palate: Rich and sweet, with vanilla at its core. Slightly spicy.

Finish: Honey'd cereals. Subtly (and enjoyably) sugary.

A beautiful grain! - For those who are focused on stronger wood notes in the foreground
    • Nose
Freshly beaten wood, sweet cane sugar, cereal notes (partially lightly fermented), banana mash, toffee, some mocha, rum notes, dark chocolate and spices (curry, pepper, etc.), lacquer and polish. The aromas are very concentrated and intertwined, which is no wonder at that age.
    • Taste
Silky - soft on a full body with a hint of resin and eucalyptus notes. Slightly tingling Grain sweetness slowly gives way to the pleasantly soft woody notes, which are clear, but also supple and bring along spice. Not as complex as the nose, but very successful.
    • Finish
The silky soft finish is long and sweet and has slightly dry and spicy wood nuances in it.

    Official Notes from Douglas Laing:

Aroma: powerful and pleasant in the aroma with many sweet spices, with cotton candy and honey

Taste: maple syrup, muscovado sugar and fresh vanilla pods

Finish: as sweet as expected - brown sugar and sweet cereal go hand in hand
Nose: Big and dulcet - Full of subtly sweet spices, spun sugar and honey.
Palate: Now more maple syrup in style with later muscovado sugar and vanilla.
Finish: As sweet as anticipated - Sugary, mellifluous with serious cereal tones.
