CHICHIBU chidibaru 2010-2014 53,5% :

Une certaine jeunesse au nez on sent surtout l'alcool mélangé à des senteurs florales et maltées.

En bouche un whisky costaud mais pas agressif. Cela me fait penser à ce que l'on sent au printemps dans les champs c'est floral, il y a du foin et ça reste plutôt rond avec des notes de miel.

Le côté miellé / cremeux fait passer la jeunesse et la finale n'est pas asséchante malgré l'abv élevé

Un whisky cohérent assez facile à boire bien fait dans son ensemble mais pas vraiment complexe.

N- Scents of flower, vanilla, brandy soaked raisin, fruit cake, cocoa and creme brulee. Not overly sweet but all in perfect harmony with dose of ashy. Well rounded and firm.

P- Absolutely delicious, mango, banana on a layer of soft young wood. Direct and forward, creamy and rich flavour balanced with good strength.

F- Smooth with medium length, pleasantly throat clinching with fine syrup. Another young bastard from Ichiro.

Guter Whisky, warm. Wenig Wasser dazu nehmen. Wenn man noch etwas mehr Wasser beigibt, kommt ein Aprikosengeschmack zum Vorschein. Vergleich mit dem Chibidaru 2009: In der Nase ist ab Flasche der 2009er besser, riecht intensiver. Beim 2010er kommt da wenig. Dann aber im Glas wirkt der 2010er ausgeglichener, das Holz deutlich weniger dominant als beim 2009er. Ich korrigiere frühere Aussagen, welcher besser ist, auf Grund einer Blinddegustation von Beiden gleichzeitig. Ich bevorzuge jetzt den 2010er. Das heisst aber nicht, dass der 2009er nicht gut ist, es ist ein Vergleich auf hohem Niveau von Beiden. Trinkt man den 2009er alleine, ist er ein Genuss . Man sollte sie nicht gleichzeitig trinken, weil doch recht verschieden.

Neudeutsch: Du das nix gleich Model is ferschiden das. 9 mer wi wald das, warum nix wald das 2010. Is nix gleiche nix drinke zusamen, dann 2010 bizzeli besser hohe niwo beide das hat. Nix vil bade in wasser das, besser wenig bade. Was du wolle mit das Wisgi - ki? Kaufe 3 tank bensin dafür, kann rasen auf stasse one fürerschein weg, weil nix saufe, das vil teuer. keine haben, auch gutt.

Chichibu 2010/2014 'Chibi Daru' (53.5%, OB, Japanese malt, 6200 bottles) Four stars Ex-quarter casks. Hope the oak won’t dominate this baby, but I do trust these makers… Colour: full gold. Nose: hold on, we aren’t far from the Mars at all. This Chicihibu’s just a little more floral, and a little less grassy. Perhaps. A notch rounder, better polished, and then a little more mentholy. Patchouli, incense… In a way, it’s a little more ‘Japanese’. With water: pink grapefruits aplenty. Love pink grapefruits. Mouth (neat): excellent. Full, immediate, very satisfying, all on sweet barley and ‘moderate’ tropical fruits. Guavas, for example, and tinned pineapples. I find this extremely good. With water: becomes creamy, fruity, with, once again, pink grapefruits. Finish: quite long, oily, syrupy (but that’s good syrup). Pink grapefruits, really. And green tea. Comments: the result of a lot of care, and of little marketing. Marketing 101: make the best product you can. Then, market it. But who am I? No, seriously, it’s like at winegrowers’, the ones who make the best are the stars. Simple. All the rest is utter codswallop, and no army of brand ambassadors (love you lasses and lads) will manage to alter that simple equation. In the short run, perhaps, but in the long run, never. Ooh I need a last dram… And let’s make it that new Karuizawa I was talking about… SGP:561 - 87 points.

n:flowery,aromatic plus fruits with water and time it opens up and it improves
m:peaches,sweet aromatic notes,a bit heavy but with water fresher fruits plus citrus

Nose

Spicy oak, nutmeg and cumin seeds. Some kind of subtle smoke in there but absolutely not peat smoke. Strawberry-flavored candy (wine gum). Marsmallow, vanilla and some berries (red or black) as well as some rubber. After the addition of water some fruits appear, apple and mango. The vanilla becomes more clear.

Taste

Sweet and sour arrival with soft vanilla, creamy and oily texture. The vanilla becomes sweeter on the development, but also lemon drops and exotic fruits, banana and melon.

Finish

A dry finish with soft vanilla and black pepper in the lead and some exotic fruit that leaves quickly. 

Comments

There is no young barley spirit recognized despite the rather young age. Really well-matured.
