It's pretty dark and heavy - for a bourbon hogshead - so. Immediately tobacco and leather. Licorice. Nutmeg. Dark wood tones that look a bit dusty. Also brittle. Bit of a date. Additionally wood glaze and varnish.
After the first sip, the nose also becomes a little sweeter.
Sweeter in the mouth than you would expect from the nose. Pretty cute, actually. But also here rather dark. Wood sugar. Dark caramel. Gastric bread. Kaba. Then pleasant oak seasoning, which gradually builds up and also brings some pepper.
The slight sharpness subsides. The Kaba is more like cocoa. Roasted nuts. Cinchona bark.
