A very different bourbon barrel malt. As the color suggests, the whisky really is. Dark in all respects (for an ex-BC). But you have to like this species. I think that's good.
    • Nose
It's pretty dark and heavy - for a bourbon hogshead - so. Immediately tobacco and leather. Licorice. Nutmeg. Dark wood tones that look a bit dusty. Also brittle. Bit of a date. Additionally wood glaze and varnish.
After the first sip, the nose also becomes a little sweeter.
    • Taste
Sweeter in the mouth than you would expect from the nose. Pretty cute, actually. But also here rather dark. Wood sugar. Dark caramel. Gastric bread. Kaba. Then pleasant oak seasoning, which gradually builds up and also brings some pepper.
    • Finish
The slight sharpness subsides. The Kaba is more like cocoa. Roasted nuts. Cinchona bark.

This whisky has a story to tell, a story that spans over 20 years. It is not suitable for action fans. But those who want to listen to the poetry of a steady, quiet maturation under near-perfect conditions will be rewarded with a dram that is second to none! TASTING BY JULIA NOURNEY
    • Nose
Discreet spicy, tobacco, mineral, ripe fruit and some leather, the complexity of this whisky is so rich that you simply miss the words. With a little thinner, the whisky is spicy and slightly perfumed.
    • Taste
Tobacco, leather, ripe fruit and perfectly balanced, soft spicy notes on the palate, round and complex, all in all very dense and clean. With water, some wood appears and the spicy notes intensify.
    • Finish
Very long-lasting, spicy and complex, with dark cocoa notes blended with cardamom and nutmeg.

would have to have been a heavily toasted oak barrel. Really nice sweet, creamy. Vanilla and caramel.
