Rating of my wife - "it smells like smokers shit in a hospital. Pour it out immediately."

Me ... nothing to add to her rating. She is correct - it is delicious :)

This is far from our favorite smoky 16 year old, but also not bad, more marine is not so smoky.
    • Nose
Sharp and oily, first flaxseed oil, iodine, lemon, later sweet fruits, light peat, many spices and herbs, a hint of wormwood, flowers.
    • Taste
Thick, oily, sweet, a lot of iodine and coals, pepper, harsh, but it tastes good.
    • Finish
Long, charcoal, woody, light bitterness, pleasant.

    2 oz sample

A super clean, crisp and relatively easy drinking laga. Austere, and a little too acidic for my liking. I like that it’s distillate forward, I like the young age statement, the abv works...it’s good, but it’s just not my style preference.

Some of these super clean distillate forward Lagavulin’s would be the perfect gateway for a mezcal drinker, or vice-versa.
    • Nose
      85 85
Super clean, sharp, vegetal Peat, cigarette ash, vanilla, all sorts of brine, capers, bay leaf, lemon juice, a little mint.
    • Taste
      87 87
Vanilla, sharp vegetal Peat, green olives, green pepper, ash, black pepper, lime juice, soft minerality.
    • Finish
      86 86
Vanilla, honey, mineral, crushed rocks, green olives, wool, black pepper, ash, green pepper, earthy peat. Acidic.

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=205 Color: Chardonnay Nose: Oh, Kilchoman in the glass? Green aromas, grapefruit, lime, salt and pepper and not a little bit. Honey, peaty smoke and hints of vanilla (creme brulee) and aromas of freshly peeled green apples develop in the glass. Taste: Creamy, quite thick and powerfully salty-sweet. Vanilla with lots of fruity lime and peat, dry leather, seaweed, iodine, marine dew and some eucalyptus. Finish: Medium length - with green aromas throughout and lots of vanilla! Smoke, peat, wet coal, sweet lime again here in the finish. Always getting drier but without any wood. Sweet peat and lime remain on the tongue. Remark: Overall good - for a 8yo a really successful bottling which in retrospect puts out a 15yo Laphroaig loosely. 88 points N: 88P / G: 89P / F: 88P

One of the few times I found the noise to be unassuming compared to the palate.

Did not think much of this release upon first opening. However after just a week of oxidization this is a winner!Noise; light smoke and vanilla with a medicinal touch.Palate; loads of sweet flowers and peat with some medium honey and soft leather in the background.

Finish; WOW very pungent honey-peat smoke with loads of sweet medicinal flowers and a bit of spice.

A perfect summer dram. Nice strong complex balance of fresh tasting notes throughout. A very unique peat experience that is not found in many a peat monster. Great value for the money!

    • Nose
Surprisingly complex smoke flavor, with some peat and charcuterie. Some marzipan once you add a touch of water, and give it time.
    • Taste
Very satisfying smokey, peppery finish. Slightly medicinal as expected.
    • Finish
Pretty long for an 8 year old. A good dram.

    • Nose
Only faint smoke on the forefront, more on the background. More grain, green grass, forest smells. Quite an oily "feel" to the nose, with definete peaty notes of medicine, organic fusile notes, fresh tar, sour balsamico
    • Taste
fresh peat smoke, vinegar, fresh and vibrant, barley sugar, bread, great mouthfeel smooth arrival which really builds and becomes very full, bitter, edgy and raw yet still elegant and balanced
    • Finish
Ending in different types of smoke, beach notes, clams, mineral, drying ashy notes of road tar, cigar, notes of old ashtray or buned out coal from barbecue
