Whisky Reviews for Mortlach 2009 DL

- Nose is nice and strong. Cannot get a connection but good and meatty. Initially weak but keeps on coming, pretty good for 46%. Has some of the typical meat, maggi and drop associations. Bit bitter at the end. 60 euro's at the local liquor store was worth the gamble.
- A nice, fresh and quaffable dram. The oily Mortlach DNA is clearly present in this mouth coating dram. It’s not complex or layered in any way but just a very fresh and pleasant dram to sip on a warm evening.
All in all a good summery dram
A fresh, sweet, oily and assertive whisky with aromas of grapes, apple, pineapple, butter, olive oil, subtle tone of linnen, berries (gooseberries, red currants), pear, banana peels, vanilla, plantain, acacia honey, barley sugar, ginger, malt, slight metallic tone, breakfast cereals, fennel seeds, grape skins, hint of juniper berries and subtle oak.
A fresh, fruity and sweet whisky with aromas of pepper, ginger, citrus (lemon and grapefruit), vanilla, icing sugar, honey, subtle tannins, malt, grass, apple, butter, hay, grape seeds, caramel, fennel seeds and creamy oak.
A medium long and slightly drying finish with aromas of grape seeds, white wine, floral tones, acacia honey, fennel seeds, vanilla and oak.
