In the nose a great mixture of wax and grilled banana with honey. Slightly musty, cold ash. Sage, maybe some lavender, sawdust. Even more waxy in the mouth, banana still there, more honey, less mildew, almost no ashes, a bit bitter woodiness. Sunflower oil. Long finish, little to notice the wood, some rinse water (I would not have read the base before ...), sunflower oil, fir resin. I dosed water from the bottle, so it does not tolerate too bad.

Either the smokiest Tobermory or the least smoky Ledaig. No matter, the wax / oil note meets my taste and otherwise it is also extremely tasty.

enormously dry first kick.. followed by a powerful mix of aromatic herbs, sugar, spice and everything nice.. such as salt and a wee bit of ash.

the palate is powerfully alcoholic, but with effort.. oils and smoky lemons filter through..

the finish is relentlessly un-boring with slightly metallic, slightly bitter, peppery peaches

It's a Tobermory really? Unfortunately I don't feel the age and the depth what I would expect from this one. 87/88.
    • Nose
      87 87
Honeyed green apple, vanilla, citruses, grass and spicy oak.
    • Taste
      88 88
Powerful. Smoke, tobacco, sawdust, lemon zest, pepper and nutmeg, salted caramel.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Long, spicy, oaky, sour.

It's a bit unusual, but that's what makes this one interesting.

First impression: Remarkably smoky for a Tobermory. Tobacco, caramel, apple and vanilla sugar. A rather schizophrenic nose with this combination of notes, unusual for a single cask. Water mellows it down and releases a grassy note.
    • Taste
      87 87
Tobacco, apple, smoke, vanilla, grass and caramel.
    • Finish
      87 87
Caramel, tobacco, vanilla, apple and cashew.

  7. Monte Gehro scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Harmonious malt, good and individual ex-bourbon cask
    • Nose
First nose clearly alcoholic. Then very fresh, lime, very light vanilla. Overall, rather closed.
With a little water and time in the glass: the malt opens. Tropical fruit with pineapple and mango, markedly reduced alcohol note, subtle spiciness. Occasionally, a musty cowsstall note flashes through.
    • Taste
With some water: strong, sweet, caramel, malt, fruity towards tropical fruit, Mon Cherie, to end cocoa.
    • Finish
With water: short to medium, sweet, barely spiced, some cocoa, only a little spiciness and bitterness.

This is really fun to try (especially together with other people), but I do not have to bottle things like that - Nasenkrepierer, in the mouth too hot or too thin, finish moderately. 90 € are of key dates ago OK, but I would not buy for 30 for me. And serve only with warning.
    • Nose
Pur: ... nothing ... something sting ... nothing ... then a slight aro-dishwashing grade (no, I do not use that and the glass was properly cleared ;-)), wet cardboard ... give it some water: a little bit, soft jelly note, a gaaanz slightly exotic-fruity touch (somewhere far away in the fog), slightly cinnamon-woody - but I have to suck the air almost by force from the glass, dolle is that not
    • Taste
first brandy on the tongue, brandy bean, Mon Cherie ... then in the direction of sugar beet syrup ... uuuund behind the tongue / on the palate then coffee, pepper, licorice, camellia ... pure quite a lot of pepper, diluted, he feels very quickly watery
    • Finish
Pure: medium long, hot, dry, hot, diluted, some cocoa comes through

    • Nose
Caramel and sugar. Red apples and other bright fruits. With a little time, the fruit becomes exotic in the background.
    • Taste
Slightly oily. Chocolate Banana Cake. Medium oak / log. Again sugar and a little caramel
    • Finish
Nice warming and relatively long. Again a great sweetie. Tropical fruits and chocolate cake. In addition a good portion of oak (without becoming bitter thereby).

    • Nose
Sweet and slightly malty on the nose.
    • Taste
In the mouth bright fruits and more sweetness. Citrus fruits. Then something like very soft smoke covers the tongue, but that can not be. Must be the spicy tannins from the oak. Easy burning on the tongue.
    • Finish
Nectarines and vanilla pull neck down and leave some fresh, sweet oak on the palate,
