malt, pastry sweetness with honey and caramel, a little hot bread, a little spice
The palate is pleasant with fresh fruit on pressed apples and pears and a little cooked, still caramel and toffee, a little leather too! The creamy sensation lasts.
The finish is simple, but long enough with this feeling of softness, which gives tranquility to the bottom of the palace.

A light but quite substantial whisky from the Bourbon barrel, m. E. a beautiful representative of its genus. Rather an aperitif whisky. With about 12 years and from about 40 € to get, he has an excellent price-performance ratio.
    • Nose
      83 83
The first nose reveals a slight solvent (varnish) and some alcohol. A rather light whisky that turns out to be quite rich in the course of the tasting.
On the nose dominate cereal notes and vanilla milk, in addition to light, unripe fruit (light plum, kiwi) and some lemon, as well as fresh wood and grassy aromas. Add a touch of green asparagus. After a while, the wood becomes more aromatic and darker, the aromas become more intense. Water, on the other hand, does not help much, but at the end it shows light wood ash or a very subtle smoky note.
    • Taste
      84 84
He is cute, but in a very pleasant way. A nice, oily and velvety mouthfeel spreads, the taste is reminiscent of vanilla milk-dressed porridge with a few harder, not yet quite ripe fruits. In addition freshly beaten wood, which mutates later to older bark.
After some life, the vanilla milk is reduced, in addition to a little cocoa powder, but really just a touch and without any bitterness.
    • Finish
      84 84
Velvety, medium to long and warm, the sweetness dominates, plus cereals (oatmeal) and a light citrus fruit.

This was an interesting one. The higher ABV definitely helped flavour delivery, but most interestingly was this musty note I picked up which I usually find in young Glenfarclases and was very surprised when I found out that this bottle has no sherry maturation as it is quite meaty. Really good stuff for the age and price.

  10. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Tasty, interesting and very changeable - I have rewritten the notes several times during the tasting and I'm still not sure. Nice whisky for 40 € and again proof that Bourbon keg does not have to be boring.
    • Nose
very creamy and sweet (white chocolate, crème brûlée, waffle-iron waffles), some cinnamon, then pear compote ... with time it gets a little fresher, greener - grass, green apple, a splash of lemon
    • Taste
intense bittersweet chocolate with some bitter citrus aroma, a bit woody and can not really decide - creamy or spicy, somehow both, from sip to sip ... also tolerates some water, without watering down, then milk chocolate, less bitter, but more White pepper
    • Finish
rather long with cocoa and white pepper
