    a tasty drop - does not go wrong - but I miss the special something - somehow too boring for the price at the age
    • Nose
      very creamy oak - buttery fat - with a lot of vanilla, mild fruity acidity in a nice balance with the sweetness, dark red fruits in addition to fine spicy oak flavors with a light resin impact, mint
    • Taste
      red berry fruit with oak and full-bodied hazelnut chocolate, ginger-hot warming without burning alcoholic, to a cooling mint note spreads on the tongue, with some air - leather and tobacco - chocolate full, generally a round mouthfeel, very clean - works more like 18years or older
    • Finish
      light oak on the cheeks, the tongue tingles, nuts and chocolate notes dominate, nothing is to be found from the berries,

  2. LeChiffre scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    Successful intensive sherry whisky without being overcharged. Very tasty and good drinkable, without being particularly surprised or extremely exciting. Overall, a nice malt, but the price is quite high for the bid / age. For the offer price recommended.
    • Nose
      88 88
      distinct sherry note; dark fruity sweetness; raisins; Cherries (Mon Cheri); something orange; pleasant oak spices behind; great aroma
    • Taste
      87 87
      strong sweet and spicy onset; fruity sweetness (dark fruits); the oak comes through clearly - very spicy; tingling ginger sharpness; a bit nutty
    • Finish
      86 86
      herb-spicy; tingling mouthfeel; subtle sweetness; nutty; Sherry notes; dark chocolate; some coffee

    A great Balvenie - real toppaint!

    [F] copper;
    • Nose
      92 92
      intense nose: grapes, raisins, dark fruits, a lot of sherry, honey;
    • Taste
      93 93
      intense, full-bodied onset, beautiful sherry, milk chocolate, fine vanilla, malt, creamy and very complex, tasty, becoming increasingly dry;
    • Finish
      93 93
      long finish, in the end cocoa;

    No complexity miracle and unfortunately also a bit 'thin', but otherwise a very good, quite clean Sherrytunte.
    • Nose
      88 88
      Sultanas, dates, dried apricots, apple compote, tobacco, leather. Cherries in dark chocolate. Polished oak, slightly earthy. Not very deep.
    • Taste
      87 87
      Silky, sweet, medium weight, very round. Drinkable. Sherry, yellow dried fruits and light ginger sharpness. Some honey and fine spices. There is a lack of density and concentration.
    • Finish
      87 87
      A touch of saltpetre. Sherry, dates, dusty raisins, figs - the whole sherry portfolio. Good length.

    A delicious single malt. Simply knitted, pleasing, easy to wear and suitable for many occasions. The sherry cargo is real and does not look set. Still a bit overpriced in my eyes - 02.12.2017
    • Nose
      Full sherry freight, sweet, kirsch, Mon Chérie, melted chocolate, marshmallows, mint, fruit acid, the alcohol is well integrated but it seems slightly restless, adhesive flavor
    • Taste
      Soft and sweet, ginger, wild honey, slightly nutty, licorice, subtle tart, some oak aroma is also due to soft but quite fast, far better balanced in the aroma, provides some sharpness without becoming unpleasant
    • Finish
      medium

    At the second or now third tasting he gets a little bit downgraded 87 points. Also from the price point of view and the still reachability the barrel 11269 must be measured with it.

    In comparison to the three special bottlings' # 2805, 2806, 2807 not quite so dirty, earthy and barrel-heavy, rather spicy and still full. Maybe Balvenie lives here a little bit in the background.

    All in all, I like it very much. I would still want a full cask strength for the price here.

    The body is also readily available and multifaceted, but the departure then not so long and full, but no oak fight.

    Is a solid sherry-barrel Balvenie, but not exciting enough for me. All notes have always been written in direct comparison with the # 2806. This Balvenie is definitely not as intense barrel overloading as his # 2806er.
    • Nose
      Vanilla, plums, dark chocolate, cherries a pleasant acidity that makes me associate slightly sour, sherry-steeped wood. Furthermore, some orange blossom, roasted hazelnuts, tobacco and leather can be heard. The fruit and the vanilla go wonderfully with the oak flavors hand in hand. Less barrel influence than the # 2806 just in terms of spiciness.
    • Taste
      Soft, light tingling, more vanilla, a lot of chocolate, spice reminiscent of pepper and pleasantly round sherry. But not as dirty, old and profound as in # 2806.
    • Finish
      The finish is then dark chocolate, a little mint, continue to vanilla and a little cherry with very little leather couch and tobacco box. Coffee aromas are not heard. Again, far less than in # 2806. I would call the finish a mid-length in which, surprisingly, all flavors of the initial taste are to be found in a weaker form.
