APPEARANCE: Yellow-golden colour.
NOSE: Very malty. Then dried fruits, some yellow, some more red or brown, like a bourbon cask main maturation plus some additional (refill?) sherry or wine maturation. And only after a while did I notice what I think is mild peat smoke. “Clean” and well balanced. (87p)
TASTE: The arrival is malty and fruity. On the mid palate some nice astringency, like “fruity” wood tannins, completely without pepperiness. No trace of sherry casks in the mouth. I would guess around 50-55% ABV. (87)
EXIT: The same “fruity” astringency continues. I like it. (87p)
OVERALL: The spirit is fruity, malty and clean, but apart from that it’s difficult to pin down. Tasty, clean, well balanced but a little anonymous...? TOTAL SCORE 87 points.
POST REVEAL COMMENT: A blend!? Sure fooled me. I wish they still made blends like this ... REVISED TOTAL SCORE: 90 BLEND points.
