  1. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

The good old grain whiskey, the grain concentrate, for more than four decades the base and bourbon barrel have become one and indivisible, a sense of age and nobility in all the components, but still how many do not stand it - it's not a mole ... there are no sparks in it God's Wrath (c).
    • Nose
Open, wet, very old treated wood, old furniture, furniture varnish, corn, caramel, resin, vanilla, light notes of pine needles and salty grape leaves.
    • Taste
Dense, saturated, oak, grain, creamy sweetness, oily, menthol, ether, resin.
    • Finish
Oak-tar, young pine buds, slight bitterness of the bark.

  3. malthead-sven scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

Due to age and price, I had high expectations, but was disappointed for the first time by a Maltbarn bottling. The beautiful and long finish saves the whiskey a bit.
    • Nose
first glue, then plenty of vanilla, lemon, slowly a little pear creeps through, but overall it is not very fruity, rather a bit bitter and bitter, then shoe polish, diluted and with 10 minutes time it is set and sweeter, but more does not happen
    • Taste
very intense Grain, including clearly tingling the barrel, bitter
    • Finish
Dark chocolate, after-eight and tart herbs, all quite mild but incredibly long-lasting

  4. WhiskyNotes scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Another rounded, rather gluttonous grain whisky with hints of old bourbon whiskey and rums. Slightly bigger / spicier / more complex than comparable bottlings, I think.

    • Nose
Perfectly smooth, which is not always the case with grains. Lovely bourbon-like oak and corn syrup, including a bit of modelling glue. Lots of coconut cream and vanilla. Honey and creamy marzipan. Lemon sponge. Dried apricots and touches of tropical fruits.
    • Taste
Warm, rummy flavours and a lovely texture. Vanilla and leather. Mango and a mixed fruit stew. Ripe banana and pear. Coconut again. Just a hint of bitterness towards the end, gingery with some dark chocolate. Maybe not oak, more like a wheat spice influence.
    • Finish
Drier now, slightly peppery, but still sweet.

    • Taste

      Medium long, sweet, peppery, dry
