Very similar to the 'standard' 21 (code 13/491). I expected it much more sherried than that one, but apart from a bit more caramel that's hardly the case. I rate them both equally high.

Compared to the Belgian version it's a bit lighter with a slightly less obvious oloroso influence.
    • Nose
Plum, peach, caramel, cherry, apple and blueberry. With water some honey.
    • Taste
Apricot, blueberry, honey, salted caramel and apple. Slightly waxy and touches of spice and peat.
    • Finish
More peaty. Caramel, apricot, honey, apple and spice.

Bottle No. 1 and No. 2 are with me =)

    From a newly opened bottle.

I'm not a huge fan of modern, overtly sherried springbank, but the sherry is barely detectable here, which is the whole point, methinks. Sherried, without being sherried. That's it.

Less funky and more fruity than your regular Springer. Honeydew and cantaloupe melons, yellow peaches, apricots, starfruits, and ripe guavas. I know many folks have never tried starfruits before, but you should. It's wonderful stuff, and you can definitely detect it here.

Yes, definitely more fruits. This is wonderful! Oily, sweet, succulent fruits, honeyed lemon liqueur, and slightly herbaceous, with again, less Springbank funk and peat than usual. Perfect balance. Perfect modern Springbank. I wouldn't change anything about this.

Superb from start to finish. Still fruity, but more on dried herbs at the end, and also a bit of menthol on the tongue.

      92-93 points.

A great, intense malt - very similar to the standard 21 year old - but almost twice as expensive!
    Still a top whisky!
    [Color] amber

    • Taste

a top-class paint and incredible taste experience, sherry also meets oak, both dominant
very good whisky but has no relation to the 450 €!
    • Nose
very intense fruity smell, dry sherry and oak
    • Taste
direct full-bodied, strong start, extremely much oak and spice, tobacco, very strong and voluminous, full-bodied and complex
    • Finish
      long soft, oak-heavy finish;
      long intense dry aftertaste

Great whisky, which is very balanced. Not the typical dark sherry notes, but rather nutty, and stone fruit (plum, apricot, peach).

280 € but I find even with a Springer SC already very ambitious.

Caramel + honey overall rather sweet than fruity. a hint of smoke tickles the nose. Light nut notes, here I find especially marzipan. Associations with stone fruit.

Wow, what a sugar load. Very sweet at the beginning. Then a pleasant sharpness dominates the oak.
Again, minimal smoke. Now come back the sweetie. Hardly any fruit, most of all I have strawberry cream sweets and stone fruit again.
      Overall, a creamy, oily mouthfeel.

comes slowly and comfortably. light smoke again. zero bitterness. overall very soft and round. Departure is quite long and has all
to the end of slight bitterness, but they are very pleasant.

Very rich on the nose: dried and baked fruits, peaches, apricots, plums, mild sherry, some honey in the background, mildly vegetal and mild eastern spices like coriander and a faint hint of cumin, also a whiff of saltyness.

Taste: full bodied and oily, again peaches and apricots, honey, caramel, and some saltyness. Also nice wood spices like pepper and clove.

Finish: fairly long, still fruity and honied with an oily saltyness and lingering mild wood spices like pepper and a little clove and ginger.

Loses some power when too much water is added, but easily takes a few drops, top dram.
