Super fruity, flawless and rather serious (means not sticky sweet) - top quality and another great example of a Springbank from the 60s.
Head to head with the sister cask 263 I would still not rate this one as perfect as I think it is not as complex and rich but this is really just nitpicking on a high level.
    • Nose
      95 95
Intense, fruity, yellow fruits, quinces, peaches, also tropical fruits such as mango, passion fruit, overripe bananas and apples, whiffs of solvent, hints of vanilla - great!
    • Taste
      98 98
Very punchy, oily, sirupy, fruity, again the whole basket of tropical fruits, not too sweet or sticky, just a subtle sweetness, fine notes of oak wood, becomes more peppery, zesty, white grapes - excellent!
    • Finish
      95 95
Long, burning, more on grapefruits, more vanilla, the oak wood becomes a bit louder but not drying, still very fruity - very good!

    With water:-

The nose stays the same with a few drops of water but the palate improves and is now zesty with what I call some sherbet fizz.

    A very nice Springbank.
    • Nose
Apple , plum, pineapple the usual Springbank fruit salad. Apple skins, just a very faint vanilla hint, fresh cream and warm biscuits.
    • Taste
Nice mouthfeel, all the fruit on the nose is on the palate but there are a few bitter off notes at first, strange.

The bitter notes go and there are all sorts of fruit skins, apple, yellow plum etc.

      Sweet & creamy
    • Finish
      Medium length.
