This is a very fine Whisky for malt heads who like Sherry blaster. I bought this Whisky in the shop because the colour triggered the "buy it reflex".
Sherry, caramel and toffee. After a while with a drop of water there are nuances of dark fruits, dried fruits like figs and apricots. Imagine fruits like strawberries conserved in rum.
Sweet and creamy. Without water, the alcohol is very active but not unpleasant. The Sherry does its work with the bitterness and is dominant, the oak is very present and of course the vanilla. Is there coffee in the taste? Or bitter chocolate?
Long and intense with the Sherry at the beginning and the oak afterwards. The longest stays the vanilla and the chocolate.
[August, 2016] Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 85 Euro in August, 2016.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 82,5. My notes state "nothing remarkable about this except too pricey"...
N: A butterscotch-toffee number with some oyster sauce-char. T: Same as the nose, thereabouts. Continues on caramel-butterscotch char. F: More of the same. C: Very Strathclyde-esque. Tasty yet dominant, heavy-toffee charred malt. Blog
