Whisky Reviews for Glen Garioch 12-year-old

  1. Lu Cifer scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Fine, unobtrusive nose with barely perceptible smoke, fresh oak or green walnuts, a hint of dry fruit and a delicate vanilla note, slightly fruity, slightly sweet
After a while it pours fruity with a light vanilla note and a hint of oak from the nose glass.

Strong sweet taste in the mouth, the 48% alcohol is noticeable but not unpleasant. Slightly tart oak flavor, while sipping slightly tart coffee notes, becomes soft, sweet-tart and somewhat fruity.

First sweet-tart with oak notes, the herb-sweet tension remains for a while before it ends softly and fruity with a slight malty sweetness in a long finish.

A nice uncomplicated entry-level malt with a good price-performance ratio, I am glad that I have tried it, but I would not need it again ...
    • Nose
First, I have the otherwise typical for Bourbon glue, but quickly vanishes in favor of a nice baked apple flavor with intense caramel sweetness and a little oak, quite uncomplicated but delicious ...
    • Taste
Oily, powerful, herbs and spices, dark fruit. Less sweet than the nose, but not less tasty ...
    • Finish
      Medium long and very dry

  3. Alois scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

I like him because of his pronounced sherry and the dry profile with this great sweet.
    • Nose
Fruity with oak and sherry. Very nice and sweet nose
    • Taste
Dry, spicy, slightly sweet, fruity, full-bodied, lots of sherry, strong on the tongue but the oak is more in the subton. Later, milk chocolate is added
    • Finish
Oak and fruit. Dry Sherrynoten. Long finish

With water :- The nose is more restrained but I think the palate is a little better, smoother but still on the fruity side with a nice dose of peat
    • Nose
Pleasant nose on honeycomb, a little lemon, orange, toffee, caramel, buttercream
    • Taste
Sweet with some peat and smoke at first. There is some honey, biscuit, cream, icing sugar, lemon sherbet, spices.
    • Finish
Good medium length, just a little light but its lively.

    [August, 2012]  Finally I emptied a bottle that I bought for 34 Euro in May, 2012.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85.  I took no notes.
