- This is an amazing whisky. It’s very rich but not cloying and has an amazing balance of sweet and deep aromatic notes. I fell in love with the rich character and the amazing sandalwood notes and am really glad I brought a bottle of it home with me.
Reviewed in my blog:
Very lactic. Rich vanilla and caramel candies. Some peat but not very pronounced, leads to a nice wood smoke note. Aromatic wood, cedar. Fresh red fruits and berries. Hints of radish. Sweetened beef jerky. Black wine gums. Nutmeg and paprika. After some glass time some notes of germolene show up.
Salty, earthy and loads of sandalwood (I love the smell of sandalwood). Glace cherries. Maple syrup. More rich caramel candies and germolene.
Long. Wood smoke. Basted meat. Wood tannins. Camphor. Wood spice. Sandalwood. Maple Syrup. Leaves the mouth quite dry.
- Marine and mineral. Carné. So-so. With water, more malty and pastry chef. On the palate, smoked, quite greedy in texture. Warmer again with water. Mineral finish, even metallic. It is often said that a peated whisky does not suffer from its youth. That is not the case here.
- F: red gold - copper N: very smoky - alcoholic, more is not possible G: strong alcohol / smoke, sweet, vinous? A: long, alcoholic and smoke-dominated, develops from sweet to bitter + H2O: is much better, the alcohol is involved, the wine comes through.
