Part of the HWF second edition line up! This was the seventh, and last one, of the night. And what a finale to drink! This is certainly not an beginners dram. It’s offers a lot of in your fave flavors. Great stuff! Most of us were spot on from the start btw. The first and only whisky that was guessed right.
A typical ledaig profile! Farm-like, barn flavors and quite some rubber on the nose. A typical dirt-like peat that I often get in Ledaig. It offers a quite complete palate of freshness, sourness, sweetness and earthiness. Despite of it’s high ABV, this whisky is very well quaffable!
Sweet, fatty and oily. Again very robust and straight forward. It even reminds me of fertilizer. Never though I would associate that with something positive but here it is :) after a while great tobacco flavors start pushing through. This is a heavily matured and outspoken taste, not for the faint hearted. I could understand if this is not your cup of tea since is very outspoken in flavors, but that has nothing to do with the objective quality of this dram. It’s is just great!
This finish seems to be endless! Starting of with farmy flavors, sherried flavors right after that and it all ends in dark spiced, almost heavily spiced rum flavors. Lots of oak influence from a high quality cask. High quality tobacco remains for quite a while. I’m gonna enjoy every last drop of this inside the glass.
