The taste is nicely balanced between light wood, a little smokiness and bitter fruit, leaning towards blood oranges. It definitely needs water but then it tastes mature, rounded, and impressively balanced.
The finish is long lasting on bitter chocolate notes. I talked about the one-dimensional aspect on the nose. The whisky IS straightforward, but it is not boring in any way. You can toy with this quite a while, adding water, judging how much it needs exactly. Above all, it is a great summer dram, to be enjoyed when the sun has set and the garden starts to darken. Another very interesting selection by this band of bottlers. Well done!
