Whisky Reviews for Benromach 2010

- I've had better batches.
The virgin oak is really present. Lots of vanilla and crème brûlée type aromas. After the honey comes ripe apple and burlap.
A proper creamy mouthfeel, which is quintessential Benromach. Quite sweet, with a good amount of honey, but also oak and pine needles. A touch of leather and ripe banana as well.
Somewhat drying, with a hint of menthol and dried grass. Finally some white chocolate.
- I like flavors that I do not like in the Bourbon (vanilla, coconut) stay out, and a little smoke is also there. At first I thought - if Virgin Oak, then Bourbon - but the Organic has its own, definitely a gap in the market. Personally, I would rather buy another bottle of the 10, and then a "real" Bourbon - has both its time.
Spicy, mango, orange, cinnamon and grassy notes.
Dry-smoky, "greener" it tastes too, "snappy" it is not - especially for 5-6 years of age.
Dry, slightly smoky finish with subtle sweetness.
- Tasted this during a Benromach tasting organised by Whiskybase in march 2017
