Nearly as bad as the regular Glen Moray; awfully sweet and barely noticeable sherry notes.

Simple but tasty and bright enough whisky. Supplementation in sherry barrels undoubtedly graced this release without indicating age.
    • Nose
Contains a large number of malt tones. In the distance - honey, fruit, young bark.
    • Taste
Spices, overripe fruits, apple seeds, fresh baked goods.
    • Finish
Medium in length, with dried fruit trim, with pepper and malt shades, with delicate tannins.

Having drastically reduced my whisky buying of late (I’m sick and tired of the ridiculously high prices being charged for pretty bog-standard stuff), I saw this for £14 in my local Co-Op and couldn’t resist. I have to admit to not having particularly high expectations. However...I’m pleasantly surprised! The nose has plenty of deep sherry aromas that mingle nicely with the malty and herbal spirit. Definitely doesn’t seem to be too youthful here. A bit of time in the glass mellowed it out even furthermore, leaving a lovely, soft sherry profile. Straight out of the bottle, the palate is much more rough and youthful than the nose. I didn’t warm to it much at first, but again, time in the glass softened off the rough edges leaving a creamy sherry profile that also has a nice edge from some chilli peppers and coriander. Medium-length, malty and herbal finish. Definitely a dram that needs time in the glass. If you rush it, it’s a pretty young, rough-edged whisky. With a bit of time though, this is a very easy drinker. Perfect for a regular dram that won’t break the bank.

It's a well made spirit, even if it's a bit young and the extra time in a sherry cask added only a little nuance overall. Nose becomes less fresh but maltier with time. Almost syrup on blueberry pancakes sweet on the nose. With time the palate begins to draw out the raisin note, but the finish starts to burn a bit on the way down.
    • Nose
Crisp fresh fruits and malt, a touch of mixed floral notes with a bit of honey, dried fruits (papaya, plums, and cranberries), and mellow but youthful spirit vapor.
    • Taste
Malt and a touch of raisins, floral honey and mixed grain muesli, oak and tannins, cherry menthol cough drops, and freshly cut oranges with their peel.
    • Finish
Walnuts, chocolate covered espresso beans, oak and faint raisins, and green grain and tannins.

  8. Pyromann scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Good sherry whisky with some Speyside character. I miss something I could remember this one for. Good dram anyways.
    • Nose
Overripe fruit dominates, some sherry / white port notes.
    • Taste
Sherry, overripe fruit, some spices, chocolate sweetness.
    • Finish
Moderate, mix of sherry and spices

    Dried fruit.
    • Nose
Bursting with dried fruit, cinnamon and toffee candy. Nice sweetness.
    • Taste
Incredible layers of sweet vanilla oak, dark chocolate and oriental spice.
    • Finish
Satisfyingly long with a tingle of spice.

  10. KayMeertens scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Apple, vanilla, almond, cherry, sweet lime, honey.
    • Taste
Almond, apple, honey, spice, wine gum and a little smoke.
    • Finish
Almond and apple with a bit of caramel and cocoa.
