  1. Malthead19 scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    COLOUR: light amber (without dye)

    - an incredibly strong powerful single malt
    - felt in a blind tasting at least 50%!
    - needs a few shots of water despite the 46%
    - is not quite my cup of tea, too bulky, too much oak,
    nevertheless qualitatively a quite good whisky for the age
    - for 60€ I would rather buy something else
    • Nose
      Sherry and spicy oak, wild berries, blackberries, more dry/woody than sweet
    • Taste
      Extremely powerful attack, a lot of volume and power, lots of spice, lots of oak, not much fruit is left, despite "only" 46% adding water is highly recommended
    • Finish
      powerful, spicy, long finish;
      medium-long aftertaste

  2. schengel10 scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    this glen diver can't hide its "youth" - intense and good but rather unsuitable as an "all day dram"!
    [color:] = amber;
    • Nose
      sherry, blueberries, blackberries, woody, spicy;
    • Taste
      intense, powerful attack, spicy, lots of oak, malt, only subliminal, light sherry aromas;
    • Finish
      a medium-length, peppery, spicy finish, again lots of oak;

    re-scored from 85, oxidization killed all the good parts of this turning it into a boring sherry whisky

    don’t let the boring packaging fool you, what’s inside will totally surprise you. fruity, complex, clean, nicely balanced, beautifully sherried, short on the nose but satisfying taste and finish
    • Nose
      honey, red fruits, oily aromatic sugary wood, grass, beautiful sherry, butter
    • Taste
      rich fruitiness, oily butter, nuts, slight hint of bread, citrus, buttery sherry, soft grains
    • Finish
      short-medium, lots of pepper, sherry, very nutty, fruity, soft grains, butter, chocolate, malty sugars at the back with a touch of citrus and nuts

    The flavours are very flat, suffer from watering down, but the off notes are quite intruguing and certainly not disturbing.
    • Nose
      And yet another Glentauchers with notes of UHU glue and sauerkraut. Weird. These aromas cover the notes of butter and tree resin.
    • Taste
      Sauerkraut again, some faint impressions of peach, red apples and toffee trying to shine through.
    • Finish
      Short but rather nice, intermediate sweetness with some herbal touches.

    The slight haze is especially fun because the whisky is not cool filtered, and you can see it! The taste is not quite round, but still very mild for his youthful age.
    Conclusion: A beautiful, uncomplicated thirst quencher for the warmer season!
    • Nose
      Malty, very nice caramel, toffee, then a little yellow fruit
    • Taste
      The malt and the toffee are immediately there, then it gets a bit alcoholic, after all, the sherry barrel easily comes along
    • Finish
      in short, a little wood ...
