In recent years, it has become a bit calmer Bruichladdich, at least when it comes to single-cask bottlings. The MP Single Casks from the webshop are still quite rare. Fortunately, at least in the Laddie Shop for visitors, there are still two single cask lines, the handfill 'Valinches' by Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte. He is dedicated to 'Dougie MacIntyre', the new Warehouse Manager portrayed on the label with a forklift truck. Interestingly, the biggest feature of the CV21 is its relatively young age. The previous 19 - ungetorften - Crew Valinches all came from distillation cycles in the Whyte & Mackay time before the closure, specifically from 1989 - 1992. This crew Valinch here is now a product of the Jim McEwan era from 2001. And yet a very straightforward, because it is a full maturation in a simple bourbon barrel. Which bourbon? Unfortunately, as with most Bourbon bearings, no concrete indication. Eye / Nose: Visually a strong gold tone. CV21 also leaves beautiful stained glass windows on the glass and with its hefty 59% ABV throws plenty of bubbles while pouring. The laddie is very clear. Fruity sweetness - mirabelles and apricots, cereals, alcohol and, above all, the great, freshly baked mares again. I love it when the distillery character is fully preserved and is perfectly complemented by the barrel already in the nose. Even the nose makes you want to malt. Palate: Soft and warm on the tongue. Nice combination. The nose is not deceptive. The aroma of the nose is reflected exactly on the palate. Beautifully balanced bourbon ripening, which easily makes up for it with sheer power and balance, which naturally gets a bit shorter in terms of depth and complexity due to the framework conditions. Extremely delicious, quite in direct comparison with some others, some significantly older - and more expensive - Bourbonlagerungen, which I currently have open. Finsh / Conclusion: Nice long finish, slightly spicy, finally Bourbon vanilla. Not bitter or woody. An absolutely solid, very characteristic Bourbon Laddie. Extremely tasty. More is hardly to be expected here. Great barrel, well chosen. There is no need for a finish or double wood maturation. The deciding factor is that you have neither filtered out anything nor diluted it with water.
