Whisky Reviews for Tullibardine 2008 12B

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.50 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

When Tullibardin's alcohols are combined in one whisky and aged for 7 years, then only a barrel fortress and a juicy sherry barrel can fix the situation, and in this case it's all so - a strong, young sherry monster; Although the basis of Tully is very sensible in the fragrance, fortunately, it is not noticeable in taste / finish - prunes everywhere, surrounded by burnt breadcrumbs and cola, drink it all very, very well - simply and unpretentiously, but with a spark, and what else is needed ?
    • Nose
Restrained, dry, spicy wood, prunes, jam from apricots, cola, burnt biscuits, kvasnoe wort, in the background breaks the masculine notes of Tullibardin's base, fermented jam.
    • Taste
Dense, rich, a lot of prunes, burnt biscuits, kvass, bitter-sweet tones of dark beer, caramel.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, burnt caramel, cola, prunes, light earth notes, licorice, beer foam.

  2. KayMeertens scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Cranberry, cherry, apple, caramel, blood orange and nutmeg. Later some maltiness. With water mocha, more orange and the malt turns dough-like.
    • Taste
Orange, caramel, pepper, cranberry and mocha. Also here some dough shows up when adding water.
    • Finish
Caramel, orange, cherry, cranberry, hazelnut and chocolate.

  3. Dramming Dutchman scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A very nice whisky with lots to discover. I like the nose best of this dram after adding a drop of water. In the finish the 55.6% alcohol is little dominant over the finer flavours to my opinion.

At first I gave it 87 but after a drop of water it opened up more and I can sniff the ripe red fruits for a long time without getting bored.
    • Taste

Very nice taste which is congruent with the nose.
    • Finish
      86 86
      Medium long

Tasted at day 4 of the Usquebaugh Society BTC 2016. My guess was a Glendronach 19yo at 48%.
    • Nose
Thick, sweet red fruits, mint, figs, sherry, wood, chocolate, some salt, some motor oil
    • Taste
Thick, oily, sweet ripe red fruits, some wood
    • Finish
not bitter. medium long, wood, ripe red fruit lingers, some mint

A wonderful selection by 12 Barrels. I tasted this a little while ago when it was just a work in progress and was mightily impressed with the quality on this young age. It was a very wise choice to bottle this Tullibardine NOW, because it was ready and mature. Excellent selection!
