- wow ... the ABV does its trick. some drops of water help to open it up a bit. Very "fresh", malty, sweet vanilla, some salty notes as well. it was quite complex, grassy, wet hay mingled with hints of sweet tropical fruits. finish is long and rather sweet. Fine dram but not for every day!
- Balance: (20) ... (83)
Herbal aroma (hemp) sweet, vanilla, cream. (22)
The taste is sharp (not looking at a couple of drops of water)
Finish is dry, prickly and bitter with a drop of honey, menthol and again bitterness. (21)
- Great part. Otherwise, I hate Caol Ila. But that seems purely because of their smoke character. I can not stand water in my opinion.
Citrus-rich and mineral first nose, lots of vanilla, orange juice, chalk, a little tin bucket, somewhere between Arran and Springbank, with water it becomes dull after orange peel and coast
Vanilla with very compatible 60% alcohol, slowly it gets peppery, orange sweetness, again mineral
Beautiful heat with a lot of vanilla and only a subtle oak note, mineral mouthfeel, with water it becomes bitter
- Quite alcoholic without water.
An OK dram but not more than that.
I like Caol Ila. Especially with peat (-;
