    Despite NAS a really good Laphi for a very fair price - a Best Buy!
    • Nose
      strong cold smoke (ham), ashes, clearly iodine, oak, sweetness;
    • Taste
      fiery spicy, strong voluminous onset, oranges, lots of smoke, salt, sweetness, spicy oak;
    • Finish
      aromatic, long finish, spice, smoke and ash gradually fade away;

    The peat is a little too medicinal. The nose promised a lot and was the highlight for me, but I was a little disappointed with the rest. Dry and thin on the palate, overpowering peat and quite an underwhelming finish. Personally I'm a fan of the more supporting kind of peat.
    • Nose
      A nose you would expect of a peated Islay Scotch. Heavy peat is the first thing you'll notice, afterwards there are quite a few things to discover. Medicinal peat, iodine, salt, sea air, burnt out campfire, smoke, tar, ash, rubber, seaweed, leather, roasted peanuts, hay, vanilla, milk chocolate, toffee, wheat, cinnamon, lavender, licorice, musty earth, apple juice, overripe banana, kiwi and a little hint of raisins and perfume. Lovely balance and not too sweet with the fruit, quite complex once you're past that first blast of peat.
    • Taste
      Thin mouthfeel and quite dry. The peat is very dominant here, not too sharp fortunately. Ashy peat, iodine, earth, campfire, charcoal briquette, vanilla, salt and pepper, pork chops, glazed bacon, dark chocolate, caramel ice cream, tangerine and a little underlying citrus note. Very meaty and smoky, but too dry for me. I miss that mouth-coating feel and especially that 'back of the tongue' feeling. Next to that, the fruitiness is very subdued compared to the nose.
    • Finish
      Short to medium, the only thing that sticks is the ashy peat and a little vanilla.
