Whisky Reviews for Port Ellen 1975 AD

- Refined and gentle PE though, but very nice on the palate. 90/91.
Restrained. Peat, waxy apple, cocktail cherry, rose, honey and salt. Carpenter workshop.
Powerful, creamy and floral. Peat and oak. Honey, marzipan and spices: pepper and cinnamon.
Long, creamy, oily, peaty, fruity.
- Very nice edition, sweet and gentle. Ideal for summer nights. Maybe missing just a bit of power.
Soft and light. Balanced peat for such a gentle dram.
Floreal sweet notes: yellow rose and yellow daisies
Medium and gentle
- I like this and water is not needed, not an in your face PE but a restrained one that has a nice profile.
I think that is quite restrained for a Port Ellen at this strength, The peat is in the background, not distant but the fruit takes centre stage at first. After a few minutes its all changed and its the other way round. Plum, apple, peat, brine, burnt sugar
Very creamy and initially sweet but then bitter apple and plum skins emerge and it seems to get quite oily. There is a very faint hint of marzipan, and sponge cake but the peat is really nice.
Long with improving fruity sweetness
