  1. aphex scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

A strange whisky and an interesting experience. Can't say I disliked it but ... Well, it was easier with water.
    • Nose
Nose : Malt, vanilla and winey notes (grapes and tannins). Slightly farmy with whiffs of hay. Metallic and plastic notes.
    • Taste
Weird. Winey again with lots of tannins, leather, spices and a proeminent bitterness.
With water, the nose is the one which improves the most. Less winey. Leathery and orangey. The mouth is easier too, more sweet, less bitter.
    • Finish
Medium, dry, spicy and a bit salty. Cloves on the aftertaste.

Weird nose: smoked bacon mixed with unidentified fruits that leave you skeptical. Too stiff, the marriage of flavors does not work in the mouth either.

    Enthusiasm: 1/5

An odd Bruichladdich but interesting, can't really decide if I liked it or not...
    • Nose
Malt, vanilla, a hint of wine/grape, needs a couple of minutes in the glass to evolve
    • Taste
      Light, fresh, apricot and malty
    • Finish
Gets creamy with a medium long finish. Some saltiness in the end

  4. Mannix65 scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

young and completely unbalanced, reminds me of young German "whiskys"
    • Nose
Sour fermented malt, dark beer, otherwise only alcohol, with water appears some dark chocolate with cranberries
    • Taste
very sprightly, sharp and again the extreme acidity
    • Finish
      medium and sour

  6. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

The nose is very pleasant without and with water. In the mouth and especially in the end, water helps a lot. At least 5 points lie between enjoying without and with water. I then rate the whisky with water, but with slight withdrawals.
    • Nose
He starts very fresh and malty, but also quite young, slightly sweet and creamy, honey, a lot of vanilla, at the beginning you can feel the high alcohol content a bit tingling in the nose, a slight spiciness is added, which then also reflects some barrel influence , over time comes a light fruit note, not sour but rather sweet, towards apricot or mirabelle, a very thin chocolate slab (whole milk) is also present, the longer I smell it, the more harmonious the overall picture, nice light, sweet and fruity, perfect for a balmy summer night. With water, the nose opens up a bit.
    • Taste
also in the mouth first a strong start, directly spicy with oak, drier than the nose can expect, but still fruity with sweet Mirabelle, the chocolate is now clear and bitter, salt, the alcohol is not negatively noticeable in the amount. much better with water. sweeter, creamy again, chocolate and vanilla are much better and clearer
    • Finish
very dry and salty, very (too) a lot of salt, that is not so to me and the case no advantage that the aftertaste will then continue for a long time. here, too, the water helps a little. Still salty, but more pleasant, back out but then salt again as the main note, but on a more acceptable level.

  7. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Strange whisky. The aftertaste is excellent, but in the nose and in the mouth it seems somehow young and artificial.
    • Nose
Pure in the nose somehow young, after new make, artificially fruity, alcoholic with a little Bruichladdich-typical cheese note. I think the 61% are just a little too much. With water it is very sweet, vanilla, fruity, you notice a little bit the rather austere oak, but much more artificial fruit.
    • Taste
Purely in the mouth also very alcoholic. He needs water. With water he is also very sweet, the Gummibärchenfruchtnote shows up here, to a little wood.
    • Finish
However, the finish is interesting, in addition to the exuberance of the fruit sweetness suddenly show beautiful oak flavors, even a little tobacco and hints of smoke. Very long and spicy.
