Sweet, dense, hot with burnt caramel and tangible apple, it's like a challenge you take on. A rounded, fireball that penetrates you leaving an oily trail down your throat.

This bottle appeared at the Campbeltown festival in 2016, no doubt for a steal.

    N: Amazing nose, check.
T: Oh yes! It’s bolder on the palate than the nose had indicated. Wants plenty of water but swims with ease. With water added, chew away on this spirited rugged ‘farm-style’ whisky which speaks of Springbank’s unique character & charm, set against much of the yield-focused contemporary landscape.
F: I find it a touch rubbery, finishing with some scorched earthy tones.
C: In keeping with Christian’s Littlemill axiom [WLP], I light-heartedly declare “If you don’t like this Springbank, you don’t like whisky”. Perfectly edgy honest single malt.

I know the cask has been recharred but it still gave sherry flavours, on the dry side, and I liked that. Another great Springbank.

    Tasting from september 2017.
    • Nose
Tobacco, rubber and sherry spices at first. Smoke, caramel, subtle dark fruits and a pinch of salt.
    • Taste
Punchy and dry. Tobacco again, spices (cloves, ginger, ...), dried fruits, dark chocolate and smoke. Dark fruits from the nose try to fight back in the background.
    • Finish
      Long, drying, spicy and smoky.

amber color, nose very marked sherry, first on caramel, tobacco, sherry spices. Much better in the mouth, less marked caramel, a little chocolate, candied fruit, but especially a light veil of smoke, salt, rubber, great magnitude thanks to the 59% perfectly integrated. Very long finish, on caramel, spices, smoke and a lot of salt.

Oh… wow! Not for the faint of heart and not for those rushing things! Take your time, add a generous amount of water and you’ll be awarded with a multi-faceted, punchy, dense, interwoven dram meandering between spices and dark fruit sweetness. Somewhere between these aspects you can also find the typical Springbank character and a hint of peat smoke!

    Score: 91/100

I do not have it like that with sherry. But even so ...
A truly impressive malt with enormous power and depth. He brings exactly what makes a whisky so fascinating: fruit, sweetness and spice - plus a small pinch of smoke. Really great. The only negative is that he-if first bottled-in the form will never be available again. Probably the one who could get a bottle or a dram of it!

Christal Clear Sherried Springbank, sharp and zesty, fruity. Wonderful.
    • Nose
      Rich and elegant, fragrant
    • Taste
A perfect balance between distillery markers and finish
    • Finish
Impressively coastal despite the wood and finish
