It will be young, many percent and probably a pretty good 1st-fill bourbon barrel. White to please, sheer power stop, but still quite balanced. I like it.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

Wow, boy, 68,8%! That, of course, explains that delicate alcohol note that was too weak for me to mention in the notes. Perfectly integrated alcohol, it will not be any better ...
    • Nose
Begins to be fruity, peach passion fruit juice, orange juice too, first some glue. The adhesive note remains, the alcohol also tickles something in the nose, the original, juicy fruitiness goes back significantly, take some yeast, bananas and toffee. The alcohol goes back, a white wine note develops, then becomes full-fruity, at least in approach, ripe fruit or fruit salad. It establishes a mix of heavy, sweet and yeasty / slightly acidic notes. It warms up a little more acidic.
    • Taste
Bam! Start with incredible power! Immediately with strong honey sweetness, more can not stand there next to the alcohol. An almost absorbing mouthfeel, as if there were no substance at all. The same mouthfeel on the second sip, which this time is deliberately cold. However, only for a microsecond, he feels immediately strong and warm. This time, the bitterness is much more pronounced, or just noticeable before the finish. There is also a hint of acid and astringency on the back of the throat this time.
    • Finish
In the finish, when the alcohol makes room for flavors again, there is a distinct bitterness that pretends to come from the oak, which I do not really believe. The sweetness goes evenly with the bitterness, both pleasant in the interaction and short is the departure really not. The chest cavity is warmed up for a while. There is a memory in the mouth for another eternity, as if one had just been chewing on an apple-tree.

Lowlander by the Sea (Ailsa Bay), C & S, 5yo, Ex-Bourbon Cask 900145, 68.8% ABV WID: 82678 https://www.whiskybase.com/.../8.../lowlander-by-the-sea-2010-cs #WagnerAlexTastingNotes First impression / color / viscosity: Color: Light corn; narrow windows, rather fast drainage When pouring I fumble with my nose - I just do not want to have a fruit maker in my head when I enjoy a malt. Aroma / Nose feeling: sour (vomit), young, slightly sprightly, vanilla comes through, old rotten butter, sourdough, slight sweetness in the background; nevertheless - Potential can be recognized (especially after a long time Verriechen) Taste / mouthfeel: Strong and very sweet, astringent, really tasty, lemon, vanilla ice-cream "with a dash"; with water very, very tasty and even sweeter, peppery, lemon zest, grape seeds Finish / aftertaste / Length: briefly (where is the malt?), sweet, slightly bitter, light youth comes back, slightly sprittig Comment: The nose just can not, but the taste shows the true potential of this young malts. While I was crying, I still thought - who should buy that and why was the malt bottled? After the tasting I have to admit that the thing can do a lot. I would not put it in the bar, but very valuable for the personal experience. A relatively good ex-bourbon experience with youthful weaknesses. Points: 79/100

Suuuuper part, but have no idea where! think he is quite old (at least 18 years). Let me tell you a Ben Nevis (there were already some fancy bottlings). Ü60% Edit: 5 years, 70% ... crass. The massive alcohol conceals the youth. In addition, he is surprisingly very well involved
    • Nose
Sweaty cheese feet and Gymmiefmief at the beginning swivel after a long smell in sour white wine notes. You have to smell a long time to get a positive picture of the whisky. But then he really likes me: Pina Cola and pineapple put one under the palms. Broth reminds you of fondue. Sauerkraut. Overall, sour-spicy notes dominate. Fruity sweetness lingers in the background. Abgefahrenes part, so I love yes :)
    • Taste
Lick me on A ****, what an aroma bomb. He has more than 60% or?!, Since the air is almost gone ... :) Interestingly, very sweet with water. The acid from the nose is not felt, he is almost sweet and gentle. grilled pineapple and vanilla
    • Finish
      long, vanilla-spicy and very sweet!

Surprisingly drinkable despite the gigantic Abv. Yet this is especially fun and interesting to have drunk, more than that it really has a very complex and memorable taste. It is clearly very young whisky, so as said: You will not forget this whisky quickly, but mainly because of his high Abv and that he is still very drinkable.
    • Nose
Light, fruity, orange juice, mandarin, citrus. Alcohol only comes through later.
    • Taste
Stinging (of course) because of the high Abv, but also sweet, honey. Very strong...
    • Finish
Warming by the Abv, reasonably long. Sweet weather, honey.

  9. Segens scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

My first blind tasting and this is the first dram of 24 in 24 days. I like it a lot reminds me a bit on Clynelish due to the beeswax influence but the smoke influence tells me that I am wrong on it but am just not experienced enough to tell it more precise. The guess is 12 years and 56% Alcohol. So the result is really surprising as well as the low rate as I really liked this dram! And 68,6% wow ... Was expecting a high level of alcohol but this high... Haha never!
    • Nose
Wow Christian das nenne ich mal ne sehr tolle Bewertung.. Leider ist mein dram schon weg und ich kann deinen Gedanken nicht mehr folgen :-)

quite fruity/juice so mandarines & apples. A bit of beeswax and also a very decent smoke influence. Alcohol is tickling the nose.
    • Taste
Very sweet start where honey and orange liqueur are there. The alcohol seems to be quite strong as a lot of taste is carried. I like this dram!
    • Finish
Not too long but I expect the dram to be not that old (about 12 years) and there is not much bitterness left and it is quite good balanced.

  10. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

Of course, a very young whisky, but has a nice strength. Interestingly, I do not find New Make notes, but not much happens in my mouth. But the finish is very nice.
    • Nose
The nose is very strong pure, sweet, vanilla and cereals, a hint of citrus. With water, the citrus impact is significantly stronger, still very grassy and some herbs show up. Very fresh.
    • Taste
Pure, of course, incredibly alcoholic warm. For the Brad is too young and with just under 70% too high percentage. With water leicer a little meaningless in the mouth, a little tart, a subtle sweetness, but it does not happen so much.
    • Finish
However, the finish brings sweetness and nutty tart aromas, with water more citrus zest and a slight bitterness, like orange marmalade.
