Whisky Reviews for Johnnie Walker Island Green

  1. HunterRomario scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

I like to taste the Whiskey Festival 2017, the blended motif is never enough. It is a blended mortar containing Caol II, Clynelish, Glenkinchie and Cardhu.
    • Nose
The scent of the peat was great, Caol Ila was probably not afraid. It is a bit sweetish rubber (famous Mercury wheels), aluminum, earthy. Spices, salinity, sweetness and honesty are given to their hands. (87 b)
    • Taste
It smells like it tastes good. I just think it might be a bit fuller. Sexy, sweet, earthy, clay, but overall great comfort. (85 b)

In the nose rather reserved, slightly smoke, spice, malt, citrus Quite ashy smoke in the mouth (could be Caol Ila neatly in there), grass, cereals and tender apple, some oak. Departure not so very long and again ashen, slightly dry. Overall, a spicy blend, with not too much sweetness and fruit. Can you drink?

  3. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

OK, medium to strong smoke, enough flavor accessories, full of character for a blend, the expectation of the name "Iceland Green" feels somehow fulfilled ... but he is not interesting, there is nothing to buy a bottle or to Recommendation ... you can drink well, for 50 € / liter I do not feel ripped off, would, if I wanted smoke, but more likely to grab the Talisker Dark Storm. Or even cheaper liter tuffs, Jura, Bowmore ...
    • Nose
light smoke, a bit spicy, soft pepper, I also think of some freshness (citrus?) and salt (is that perhaps the supposedly contained Clynelish?), sweetness is rather restrained, some caramel and malt
    • Taste
here the smoke becomes clearer, dry, campfire, ashes, again salt and pepper, and slightly bitter, vegetal notes, grass, flower-cut ... in the Huntergrund nougat, milk chocolate, toasted cereals
    • Finish
medium length, ash, allspice, dark chocolate

    Mystery tasting.
This is a bit Jekyll and Hyde: lovely and enticing on the nose teases a different experience in the delivery
    • Nose
peat, half time oranges, a bit Ben Nevis, a bit 105, a bit Springbank
    • Taste
43% or so, very soft citrus fruit to start but dryness does come to the fore; repeated sips the peat asserts itself
    • Finish
short->medium; with the alcohol down it has difficulty sustaining itself and wood starts to dominate; repeated sips might raise this to a medum- but that is the lingering peat and some of the bitterness

  5. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Sweet fruits, creosote, peat smoke, iodine, sea salt, baking spices, oak cask and apples note on nose.

Creosote, spices, oak cask, dried fruits on taste.

Middle finish with spices, creosote, vanilla, oak dryness notes.

It’s a very good scotch! Peaty and lightly sweet.

On the nose the Caol Ila is dominate, but the taste are more balanced.
I miss the Talisker a bit, but at this price (50 EUR / liter) this whisky is okay.
    • Nose
First the peat sticks. Then citruses, camphor, salted caramel. A touch of mint and celery.
    • Taste
Instead of peat smoke, later ash. Salt and pepper. The sweet fruitiness of Clynelish,
the oiliness of Cardhu and the floras notes of Glenkinchie are more noticeable than the nose.
A little herbals and buttery popcorn.
    • Finish
      Medium, dry length with ash.

  7. wisekycourse scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

On the nose, explosion of fresh peat, spices, pepper, fruits (citrus fruits!), In the line KILCHO and CAOL ILA!
    • Nose
a JW where we have for its peat before the smoke!
then fresh fruit on the citrus mixed well and sweet caramel, back a little grassy, very nice.
