Can't understand the (under) average ratings. Beautiful ex-bourbon matured malt as it should be. At most, the alcohol could be better integrated after 18 years.

Actually, it is a pity that whiskys of the MacDuff Distillery are so rarely bottled as single malts, because such a quality gets lost far too rarely in the tasting glasses. So it's time for a red cross on the calendar!
    Tasting by JULIA NOURNEY
    • Nose
Apple and pear skin, freshly squeezed apple juice, very fresh overall, delicately spicy with some coriander seeds and ginger, fresh pastries in the background, at the same time a bit floral like hibiscus flower, overall looks rather delicate, but also very elegant.
    • Taste
Still very fresh on the palate, but not so tender, now the increased alcohol content shows its influence, and the ripening barrel also speaks up, although the taste is not really oaky, but shows with some green wood. The overall impression remains elegant and balanced. With slight dilution, additional roasty flavors appear as in dark chocolate.
    • Finish
The whisky remains true to its line in the end, showing itself from the elegant and harmonic side. Only very late, with almost oily spicy aromas, he hints that the head behind the well-trimmed gray temples belongs to a secret rock-n-roller.
