    • Nose
      82 82
Vanilla and apples is what first comes to mind. A citrus note like lemons follow. A hint of dried apricots too. Now it turns much more cereal with notes of barley and cereal biscuits. At the end a little hint of ginger.
    • Taste
      83 83
Again sweet and fruity in the beginning with hints of apple sauce and vanilla. Bananabread and apricots complement each other very well. A hint of brown sugar and dark chocolate. Barley and roasted woody notes. And in the end also ginger.
    • Finish
      81 81
Medium-long and a little bit dry. Hints of vanilla, oak and, yes again, ginger, lingers on for some time.

  2. DistiLesha scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

The worst of the four is taste. Overall, the Speyside is smooth and not very distinctive. The finish is overly woody.
Water brightens the nose, but worsens the taste even more.
    • Nose
Flowers, citruses, lemon, mild mash, sweet apples, pineapple
    • Taste
      bittersweet, apples, ranetka, pineapple
    • Finish
      wood bitterness

  3. Bomshanka scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

10 year old bourbon, oloroso and virgin oak. Natural colour, no chill filtration and 43% abv does it favours and makes for an interesting, straighforward and tasty dram.
Quite cheaply acquired and very good value entry bottling from BenRiach.
    • Nose
      85 85
Minerally fresh, slightly minty with heather and honeysuckle. Some vanilla and oaky notes in the background. Quite pleasant and very nice for 10 years.
    • Taste
      85 85
Fresh citric, honeyed sweet with chalky, minerally salty bread. Vanilla and oak are loyal companions, but the sweet, sour and salty balance out quite well with some faint oloroso appearing as a backdrop.
    • Finish
      84 84
Short to medium on the minerals and sherry and slightly drying.

Nose - Fresh Floral with some scented perfume, by nosing stronger there's ginger type of spiciness
Taste - taste isn't as exciting as nose , a bit of mono sweetness with some spiciness lingering
Finish - short with bourbon wood pulsing , some lemon skin type of bitterness

  7. Thermidor scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

A simple dram that stylistically sits between Highlanders like Glen Garioch and lighter Speys like Glenlivet.
    • Nose
Bigger, beefier and more buttery distillate than Deanston 12 (82 pts,) I'm trying at the same time. Dried malts, a bit of grass, sourbread dough, and faint spices in the back.
    • Taste
Fairly peated and hay-ish. Heavy licorice, sweetness, milk, honey, dried cereals.
    • Finish
Peat and cereals, but nothing more.

Very smooth, yet rich taste. Typical Speyside malt, with warm fruity feelings and a very balanced flavours. Surprisingly good for a 10 y.o. and for the price.

  9. mihata44 scored this whisky 79 points Newbie

Typical Speyside whisky. Not sharp but also not the smoothest. Would not be a first choice, but certainly not last. Has been ripened in Olorosa casks, which certainly has enrichened the taste.
