Pretty OK but really nothing special - save your money and buy a Speysider from the 70's instead that are currently all around
    • Nose
Green fruits, leafy, hints of vanilla and honeydew
    • Taste
Oily, creamy, again vanilla but also some more herbal notes
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, pretty bitter in the end -water helps but the bitterness doesn't vanish

[September, 2017]  This is most probably an undisclosed Glenfarclas so let us check the flavour profile.

The colour is jonquiripe corn and the texture shows very slow and fat sticky tears (that promises a great mouthfeel).  The nose is a little punchy first but after the olfactory cells adapted to it a grassy-herbal profile develops.  It is joined by some spicy wooden aromas and barley sugars in the background.  The initial mouthfeel is quite hot but nicely coating.  On the palate the barley sugars dominate joined by shy floral and herbal flavours.  I do not find the fruits promised in the official tasting notes, sorry.  If they are there then they play a perfect "seek & hide" both in the nose and on the palate.  The finish is long, sweet and adds some toffee and minor chocolatey aromas (what is nice).  Water releases more aromas both in the nose and on the palate - I like it better with a fair share added.

I recently had a naked (meaning non-sherried) Glenfarclas with a comparable profile https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/95474/glenfarclas-1988-ca that was unfortunately weaker than this one - so I am quite sure this "A Speyside Distillery" is located near Ballindalloch.
