Whisky Reviews for Glengoyne 12-year-old

- Head to head with the 10 yo this is a clear winner. It's by no means a showstopper, but pretty quaffable as an evening starter or first dram in a tasting line-up.
Fresh and light, floral, honey and vanilla, clear pineapple, peach, unripe apples, a subtle grain/cookie note and some slight almond like nuttiness. All simple but pleasant smells, a clear winner over the musty 10 year old.
Oily, a little butter, vanilla, again pineapple but also some peach, a nice sweet grain note and mild spiciness.
An obvious shortcoming in this bottling, slight alcoholic pepper notes and faint honey sweetness. One-dimensional and gone in just seconds.
A tang of butter. Sweet fruit. Pineapple, apple.
Slightly flat with a sharp edge. Bitter-sweet and fruity. A pepper. The sharp edge gives it a little more character than the 10yo.
Short to medium. Bitter-sweet and spicy.
