Whisky Reviews for Glenfiddich 2001

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.64 points

  1. Dirk did not rate this whisky Super Administrator

The previous releases of Glenfiddich at Spirit of Speyside festival were quite limited in amount of bottles. This release was a big one, over 600 bottles in stead of 250 that are mentioned on auction sites.

  2. VWWW did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

At the time this was for sale (may/june 2016) it was the highest Glenfiddich in strength in their own bottling-range. At 61.5% ABV after 15y of maturation. Bought mine in june 2016 as a hand-fill bottling, only available at the distillery.

Not worth the money people are asking for it.

    WITH WATER

Nose-Jammy notes mixed in with furniture polish and now something vegetal like cabbage (sounds worse than it is)

Palate -  Not bad, caramel, toffee, a little cider and pastry.

Finish - Still some orange there, smooth and warming

I was expecting much more from this one, nothing to get excited about but I do like it.
    • Nose
The initial smell is quite promising but it is very closed from then on and not very expressive. I believe that will change with a little water.

Dark orange breakfast marmalade that's about it.
    • Taste
Very powerful and creamy, full fat as they say. It is dry and even the palate is not very expressive.

Creamy, orange and lime mixed in with some sherry. you need to give this one plenty of time. Not a lot of anything to be honest but somehow it is enjoyable.
    • Finish
      Quite long and drying.
