Nose

Vibrant nose, a perfect example of the Irish fruitiness. Mango, banana and pink grapefruit. Bright fruits first, then more towards guava and blackberries. Red apples and passion fruits. Hints of leather and varnished oak too, as well as some linseed oil.

Taste

All fruits. Apricots, blood oranges, mango, pink grapefruit. Then some oak spices like cinnamon and ginger, as well as some menthol. Sandalwood. Very creamy and rich, über-fruity but not one-dimensional.

Finish

Long, still fruity, lemony, with hints of mocha and oak spices.

Comments

Excellent stuff: vibrant, juicy fruits with a perfectly balanced dose of oak spices. Right up my alley.

We're on Irish territory, no doubt. The fruit markers are as bright as ever with these high-end Teeling offerings. If you take the 21 silver as a reference, this one's more mature and "cooked" though, where the 21's more fresh and perfumy. Various spicy jams and cooked fruits, with apricot and cinnamon quite clearly. Close to some grand sherry-matured Balblairs.

Taste

Wow, great. Proof is spot on, slightly drying attack with profound, concentrated aromas of black tea, overripe melons, chinese broth, soy sauce, miso soup.

Finish

Long and clean, with citrusy notes' first appearance, and some sweet leafy notes as well, somewhere between Coca-cola and celery. Go figure.

Comments

Easy going yet complex, luscious yet structured, exotic yet traditionnal. Terrific.
