Once again, I feel that the kitten has some wine similar to a certain series of Genting, but the overall kitten feels cleaner and fresher, the lipid flavor is more inclined to solid wax rather than sticky oil, and Genting is sometimes too thick in terms of taste Dirty.
    • Nose
Citrus, pulp, sweet and sour sauce, Cointreau orange peel, orange candy, white chocolate, hand shake milk froth and milk-added coffee, milk tofu, condensed milk, nougat, white rabbit toffee, beeswax, honey, Dried ginger water, minerals, tiny branches, white oak.
    • Taste
Citrus, mango, apricot, toffee, beeswax, fat, parmesan cheese, salt, some spicy ginger and white pepper, Thai round eggplant, allspice.
    • Finish
Very long-lasting, waxy texture, milk skin, stone ground into powder, sea salt.

After pouring it out, it clearly felt worth drinking it seriously. In order to taste it better, I poured another cup of my own favorite kitten to compare and drink: Clynelish 12 AINSLIE&HEILBRON 1980s 57%, the following records will intersperse some of their comparisons. I like both very much.
    • Nose
      91 91
The first smell is the obvious feeling of fur and old cotton wool, which suddenly raises the tone (although I don’t know why, but this kind of smell brings an inexplicable sense of luxury all of a sudden), and then it is very complicated Fruity, it feels like a mixture of red and orange-yellow ripe fruits, soot, leather, old wood, and a slightly sour wort fermented taste at the bottom. The whole is very complex and layered. Compared with 12yo's GM red-brown bottle kitten, 12's smell is first distinguished by a faint smoky feeling, and then more bright yellow fruit flavor, and the smell is much more lively. Both have a very high level of kitten performance.
    • Taste

What I have to say at the entrance is that this waxy texture is really explosive (I personally don’t really like this feeling), it is too thick and rich; this wine is really too strong and strong, the touch of whole milk ; The fruit flavor of the oral species gradually became stronger. Compared with most kittens, its sweetness and honey sense were not high, and more mature flavor substances were used, and the sweetness was somewhat weakened; compared with the old GM12 In other words, the body of TMD is strong and visible to the naked eye. In terms of pleasure, I think TMD is too serious and serious, and it is not suitable for drinking more than one drink at a time (of course, at this price, I am reluctant to drink more).

It performed the best when first opened.
    • Nose
      91 91
Dried raspberries, tobacco and cigarette butts. Fresh prunes were added shortly. Now 30min into the nosing, an avalanche of caramel hit me with perfumed dried flowers and powdery feelings of freeze-dried fruits. Canned mango slices and Chinese bayberries that were soon overridden by preserved plums, coffee cookies, nuts and brownies. There were before the fresh fruits arrived led by red apples with peels, persimmons and papayas. It got better and better in the glass, phases of aromas were well-defined and intertwined harmoniously.
    • Taste
      92 92
Apple jam, dried figs with a touch of dried flowers, and a splash of tannins. With a few drops of water, peach core, roasted walnuts and their shell. Dark plums, aged black tea, woody syrup, grape skin. Very special taste towards the end.
    • Finish
      90 90
Apple jam with peels, dark grape skin, dried persimmons and dried prunes. Caramel, vanilla, old leather, dried leaves, roasted coffee bean and a touch of marble. Long and warming.

The manager picked a good dram! So far it is the distillery bottling with the highest percentage. But you don't notice that much!

      Sherry notes at its finest!
Intense nose with no off notes, not pungent, perfect!

Big thank you to Ady Tay for this lovely Clynelish.
    • Nose
      93 93
Extremely fresh and sharp, with some menthol and minty notes on top of that Clynelish waxy coat. High on citrusy, and the dried fruits appear after a while. Very mild earthy peat detected in the beginning, and it gets stronger over time. After around 5 minutes, the heavier sherry notes started to dance, together with the growing peatiness. Really beautiful and complex.
    • Taste
      92 92
Fruit explosion! Intense fruits sweetness and good weight of nuttiness. Lots of mixed nuts. Mild dark chocolate, dried orange peel (chen-pi), fresh kind of sherry notes which is missing from the modern ones. Slight bitterness which balanced beautifully with the sweetness upfront. Some cheese like notes. Complex!

Long and fresh, orange peel, some nuttiness, slightly sooty and oaky, dark chocolate.

    Clynelish 1972 28 year 57.3% cask 14624 Adelphi WB ID 8106

Managers Dram with this particular bottle there is no use getting only 1cl or even 2cl, this is one of the exceptions where you definitely need to either have a full bottle to play around with or a good sized sample of at least 3cl minimum preferably 4 - 5 cl

    Clynelish
    Neat
    nose

    1 - managers dram 17 year
As per last notes in 2018 but also coal tar soap just not as powerful as that but same scent, great stuff.

    2 - 1969
Surprisingly light and creamy, all on pear, green apple & green apple skins with lashings of cream, pastry notes and a hint of brine and the faintest hint of peat and some vanilla.
Smells like an older style of malt than the managers, which it obviously is.

    3 - ff
A big cereal note is the first thing that hits you, cream, hint of peat and vanilla,
    Closed not particularly expressive.
    Slightly ashy

    4 - 1972 adelphi
Same sort of dna as the ff but with a dirty angle, in a good way, coal tar soap, lucozade, brine , pear and apple & white/yellow gummy bears

    Result nose neat
    1- managers 17 95
    2 - 1969 12 year 94
    3 - 1972 adelphi but almost as good as the 69 93
    4 - FF 1982 cs 92

    Palate neat

    1 managers-
wham, bam thank you mam, holy shit, power/peat and massess of stewed fruit
More peat than i remember, and zingy, = notes from 2018 - 95

    2 - 1969
Completely different to the managers, more subtle , not as powerful with a lovely cream note, hints of lime and lemon, much cleaner and sharper but i like the dirty note in the managers
Reminds me of some of the nest douglas laing brora but sweeter
    excellent 95

    3 ff
    - this is really similar to the 1969 in it’s profile with the cream, lemon and lime angle just not quite as deep and more elegant than either the MD OR THE 1969 and there is more peat, this is approaching an islay dram for the level of peat in here 93

    1972
Another sweet one but not as refined as the 69 or ff. a little peat or so i thought btt then a wave of spicy peat lashes your tongue and it is really nice, there is a little white fruit, pepper and pastry not as complex as the other 3 92

    Order
    1= managers 95
    1= 1969 95
    2- ff 93
    3 - 1972, 92

5 drops of water from a pipette

    Nose
Managers is a little sweeter, parma violet note, marshmallow (pink)
1969 more cream , more expressive more spirit than md, gummy bears
Ff no change more distant than than above, possibley a little metallic
1972 more fruit, plum, rhubarb, gooseberry

    Clear winner

    1 md more going on**
    2 1972
3 1969 smells younger than md
    4 ff

    Palate

Md 17 silky at first but then a hand grenade of peat and masses of spice

1969, so sweet and silky smooth at first but then the peat arrives, not silky now but still great for sure

Ff - the water has calmed it down and it is like a rougher version of the 12 until the peat assaults your tongue, different, unique almost, very good

1972 - now this is a lot sweeter with water, less peat now than the other 3 but really tasty, excellent

    Unable to decide
    So try again
Md, great flavour, so powerful, rips your tongue off, i love it 1
1969 more cereal, nice peat and spice 2
Ff so creamy, full of cereals the peat is invasive water has released untapped peat power, jesus christ
1972 Very nice , more peat, great fruit

    1 md 95
    2 1972 94
    3 ff 93
4 1969 but more refined than all the others, sweeter just not as powerful 93

    Finish,
    MD 17 - 94
    1972 - 94

I've tried this one a few times. A famous bottling of Clynelish with an easily recognized label. Oily, peaty, honeyed, fruity, balanced dram with a very distinguishable granular, chewy texture when undiluted. Probably one of the easiest drinking 62% you can have. This swims quite well, but don't try to add too much water. Best if undiluted though since you can feel its power.

A wonderful, powerful palate, huge pineapples
    • Nose
Waxy and dusty, concentrated pineapple juices
    • Taste
Intense palate, waxy again, a touch of smoke, BBQ pineapple, extremely aromatic and oily
    • Finish
      Long, dynamic

Had a bottle of this before, I forgot how good it was, this is the best Clynelish I have had including some that were from the old Brora distillery.

Perfect balance with fruit & peat, this is a whisky for people who want to be entertained and have plenty of time on their hands.

A benchmark malt for me 94-95 points when I compare this to 94/95 point Glenfarclas or Glendronach this wins by a knockout.

Fantastic whisky, why did I sell a bottle years ago, what a fool.

I think I paid £250 for my last bottle

    With water:_

Water has released honeycomb, wafer and a touch of salted caramel, along with everything else on the nose.

Even with generous water it has plenty of power, the peat has smashed everything else out the way with a bat and is more noticeable than when neat but the fruit is still there.

    Superb
    • Nose
It is full of honey, lemon, menthol, cough candy, ripe yellow plums, coastal peat, brine and hints of peach.

This even smells strong but rich with it in a fruity no holds barred type way, it is lovely but also daunting power wise.
    • Taste
Thick, creamy and explosive but it is so rich you could not call it fiery.

The fruits are here, mango, peach, a little pineapple but as if they have been stewed for months in sherry. Reminds me of some of the best older springbank bottles.

The fruit keeps coming in waves but my tongue is almost numb with the power, lip smacking , full bodied rich and brilliant.

It gets a little more honeyed with time with the lemon coming through and it is lemon sherbet sweet fizz. The peat is there in the mix and you recognise the waxy clynelish profile but this is on another planet to most clynelish
    • Finish
Huge length, remaining sweet and fruity

As Monsiuer El Gato himself would say: 'Brutal Sherry'.

Nose: Mineral, clean, spicy-nutty, meaty, clean, on cold
ashes and Cointreau. Diluted, it becomes more mineral but also fruitier, on
    exotic fruits.
Taste: Spicy (ginger), very salty, smoky, peaty, on bitter
orange skin, and slight cardboard flavours. Diluted, it becomes fruitier. The
finish is long, spicy, peaty, mineral, on cold ashes and peat, seaweed, orange,
    and some tangerine and grapefruit.
General Impression: An excellent Clynelish nicely
    balanced.
