Thoughts: 87/100 - Surprisingly very good! Would have loved to see it higher abv, of course. A friend who is a big Bladnoch fan tells me that 1990 is supposedly a great vintage, and so far I cannot disagree. Any malt head bemoans a whisky at 40%, but a good one has its place in your collection to share with family and friends that are interested, but understandably afraid of high abv, big flavoured scotches.

Nose: (89) Buttery, apricot, golden raisins, cantaloupe, bruised peach, English toffee.

Palate: (87) Creamy, brown butter, peaches and cream, soft caramel. Good mouthfeel considering abv

Finish: (85) Candied Apple, caramel, loses steam but with nice flavours. A little flat at the end, but to be expected.

God I love lowland whisky when it's good! This would be nice at a higher ABV; but for what it's worth at the ABV it is... it's very good!

The nose is fruit jam and machine oil. Thick in the nose with strawberry sawdust and pastries and a touch of cosmoline.
    • Taste
      89 89
The palate is Rich. Big malt and sweet strawberry pastries. Play-Doh and mint with a soft twist of rooibos tea. .
The finish is long, really long. Vanilla sweets and a twinge of camphor. Loads of wood spice and hints of banana foster.
    • Finish
      88 88
This is a surprise, I've been eyeing this bottle up for a while and now I'm going to have to source myself one. Rich and fruity, big bodied a very bold lowland dram!
