    • Nose
      92 92
Aromatic oak, figs, dried fruit, walnuts, hints of toffee, leather, tobacco. Bit of varnish and new rubber. Could nose this for hoursl
    • Taste
      93 93
Thick, oily, figs and dates come first. then fresh hay, tobacco, orange jam. Barley and oak in just the right amounts. Massive, beautiful.
    • Finish
      95 95
Stays fresh and strong, rolls off very slowly, huge aftertaste.

    TASTING NOTE by G&M;

    Colour: Golden amber.

    WITHOUT WATER:

Nose: Pronounced sherry influence initially, reminiscent of rum and raisin.

Fresh and fruity - apricots and cooked plums. Hint of dark chocolate

    lingers.

Palate: Mouth warming, creamy and sweet with a subtle dark chocolate edge.

    WITH WATER:

Nose: Fruity with a defined sherry influence, hints of dark chocolate remain, a

sweetness present is reminiscent of caramelised sugar.

Palate: Mouth warming with a rounded spice, very fresh and mouth filling.

    Body: Medium to full.

    Finish: Long and mouth watering.

Cask Type(s): 1st fill Sherry Butts.

One of the best Pulteneys that I have ever tasted. A clear recommendation.

My second tasting of the same sample 2 weeks later was much worse. As if the whisky had completely changed it was now very perfumed. Could this be an effect of air?
    • Nose
Warming with a rich rum-raisin-chocolate flavor. Beautiful notes of sherry and marmalade from plums and dark berries. Untypical sherried Pulteney but wow - what a beautiful nose!

Strange - when I nosed it for a second time it was very perfumed, like rose water.
    • Taste
Powerful and rich with intensive sherry flavor. Maybe a little too much but the sherry is of high quality and so it does not really matter. Schnaps pralines. Quite spicy like nougat with chili and ginger. A little salty as well. Very tasty.

When I tasted it for a second time it was sweet and perfumed
    • Finish
Long, spicy and warming from deep inside.
