Irish single malt 24yo 1991 (49,5%, The Whisky Agency ‘Perfect Dram’ 2016, bourbon barrel, 152 btl.)
Nose: they’re all fruity but I keep being surprised about how fruity exactly. Very beautiful, very refined. Bananas, maracuya, some tangerine and lemongrass / lime blossom in the background. A light hint of tobacco after a while, hinting towards a more oaky, leafy side underneath. Mouth: one of the lightly peated ones again? Still a big tropical fruitiness, including the lovely maracuya and pink grapefruit, but they’re almost overtaken by menthol and cigars now, including leafy notes and Lapsang. Linseed oil. Some green pepper. Goes down easily, just a slight bitter edge in the end. Finish: long, fresh and fruity, with this leafy undertone.
This is one of the more intense ones: big, juicy, tropical fruits as well as a good dose of leafy / mentholated notes. Impressive whisky (again). Around € 300.
