Whisky Reviews for Glenallachie 2008 LsD

The nose is absolutely daunting and does not bode well. Whereby the musty and musty aromas do not really go very well with the roasted aromas and the freshness. The taste starts mild and fruity, the sharpness harmonizes very well with the fruit and the spicy wood tones. All in all a very interesting and pleasant malt. Nothing special but not bad either. Fits and tastes.
    • Nose
Dark and intense sherry aromas rise out of the glass, immediately a musty and moldy dizziness is added. Light sulfur permeates the increasingly intense muff. Dried berries and grapes, then even discreet alcohol is noticeable. Spicy wood and roasted nuts, light almond flavor and slowly releases fruity orange aroma. A touch of mint or eucalyptus, then against musty muff and cowshed.
    • Taste
Relatively mild and pleasant air of the Glenallachie at the first sip over the tongue. After a short moment spicy wood and fresh mint come to the fore, from the musty nose nothing is felt. At the second sip the earthy mildew returns discreetly, a pinch of pepper and a little salt are distributed in the palate. Dry and harsh wood tones develop, a slightly bitter walnut aroma develops. Here and there are fruity elements such as oranges or blueberries to light.
    • Finish
With a subtle sharpness on the tongue, the finish starts, the bitter and slightly bitter wood notes return. A hint of sulfur is equally noticeable, and the Glenallachie exudes its young and bitter aroma with a warm and cozy touch. With leaves and wet walnuts, the finish slowly ends.

Compote of mirabelle plum. Deep and fruity. A little sulfur. A "soft Uberach" Figs, berries. Caramelized almonds? This Hogshead Refill reveals many treasures! In the mouth, a fruity very consistent with the above, with softness and roundness, but also the vigor needed for a young whisky such as this one. This fruity persists long in the mouth. A very nice surprise that this whisky which I expected nothing special. A lot of character and personality. I recommend !

    Enthusiasm 4/5
